I just spent my first week at sea. I treaded my first footsteps on a deck of a sailing yacht. After almost 4 years of watching youtube videos and reading books about sailing, I set the main, held the lines of a genoa and 'solo' tacked the forty footer with an autopilot at the helm (his name being Thomas :D). In notably perfect weather, I learned to trim the sails for a comfortable ride towing a line for swimming along the ship, to wash the toerails in the waves on a close-reach, to give a steady wing on wing without flutter. To set the anchor and tie off the stern to shore. To clean the lines on the deck so that noone would trip. To tie off everything that can, and will, go overboard on deck. For my weary soul, this week brought a glimmer of hope like a far away lighthouse coming up through the waves on the horizon for just a moment. I've experienced peace in my heart after a long time once again. Born in a landlocked country, I snuffed out my own heart. But the sea caught it and steadily pulls it to its depths. Part of the ship, part of the crew. My heart belongs to the sea. *Sampson Boat Co* played no small part in my journey towards sailing. One day.. One day I'll buy y'all a round in some port's inn. Fair winds and may Tally Ho's sails be hoisted soon.

Tally Ho is simply becoming an ever more uplifting symphony in wood and the shipwright’s art, she’s going to be utterly stunning when she’s completed and afloat. What an amazing advertisement for the skills of everyone who’s worked on her and what a fantastic vibe humming away in that shed. The good hearts of all of you shine through in every detail of what you’ve created. Leo, this has been a long road from the time, way back when, that you were a journeyman boatbuilder around the Fal. You’re a master of your art now and a credit to your teachers, if anything else were true you’d not have had such a talented group of people gravitate around the project and trust you with their reputations. I hope that one day you’ll cross the pond heading this way and moor up in Falmouth, Mylor or St Mawes. I’d love to see her and I know so many people around the estuary that have followed your progress would too. I am absolutely certain that there’s more than a couple of beers waiting for you behind a bar or three. Cheers, R. 😎👍🍻

I've been watching your videos since the beginning and I have to say that the "Gold Plate" designation that Ray Speck bestowed on your efforts is most assuredly deserved. There are not many these days that are willing to put in the effort to reconstruct anything to the level of perfection that you and your crew have and are doing. I can't wait to see her on the water under sail and heeled over in an offshore breeze. Kudos to you and your crew. Regarding your crew, when you first started you had a group of what appeared to be ragtag drifters, some with skills, some with marginal skills, some completely green. The one thing they all had in common was the desire to learn and work hard towards developing their skills and, not to be patronizing on my part, to better themselves personally. Not one of your people was just there for the buck which in itself sets them aside from the mainstream. Looking today, what I see is a group who still appear to be a little ragtag around the edges, but in reality have melded together to become a world class team of shipwrights, builders, designers, ships carpenters and a crew of shipmates that could hold their own anywhere in the world. Were my circumstances different, I for one would be proud to be part of that team. Take a bow people, you've bloody well earned it. One final thing. When it comes to the "Tally Ho Show", unlike so much that one sees today in the visual medium, I look forward to seeing your commercials. The comedic wit and unspoken giggles behind them make me actually want to purchase the goods being offered. I wish to hell Madison avenue would have a look at what you are doing and change some of their offerings to match your efforts instead of puking out the same old commercial tripe for the major networks and their viewers.

As a long time woodworker, the craftsmanship demonstrated in that skiff built by Ray Speck is really incredible and over the top amazing! Also, the work being done on Tally Ho by the entire crew is way way over the top fantastic! As a long time contributor to this project, I would urge anyone that has not done so to consider making a donation! Thanks & Tally Ho to all...... 👍👍

The PT-11 is a fitting match for Tally Ho. Not only the way she breaks down, but also the craftsmanship. They should make a real beauty of a pair!

Nice to see something from the original boat going back into it!

The old shipbuilder was correct, Tally Ho's story is compelling and your teams work ethic is pure gold. Few channels offer next level 3D wood working mixed with an old school attention to detail; especially the excellent video production and editing. The restoration of Tally Ho is an historic record of modern wooden shipbuilding; the techniques of ancient hand tools mixed with power tools and cutting-edge maritime technology. Your commercial was hilarious and informative; a refresh on the venerable aluminum Halliburton suitcase. Cheers!

Anyone who didn't gasp or groan with utter pleasure after seeing that cockpit needs to go back and do it now. Heck, I'm going back to do it again anyway. Same with the forward lights. Such a beautiful job, all.
