Team 3636 Generals 2023 Season Recap

This is our 2023 FRC Season Recap. This year, through dedication and hours of hard work, our team, Team 3636 Generals from Grant HS in Portland, OR were able to compete in the FIRST Robotics World Championships for the second time in our team's 12 year history after placing 11th out of 150 teams in the Pacific Northwest. Held in Houston, Texas, the event was an incredible experience for our team members, and was an important opportunity for them to gain and share valuable knowledge. During the World Championships, we finished 7th in their division called "Hopper", which is better than we have ever done. In addition to the success on the field, we have worked to build a connection to the community and to other teams through, welcoming members from any high school in the Portland-Metro Area who doesn't have an FRC team at their school (right now we have students from Grant, Ida B Wells, Benson and Franklin), and targeted outreach projects. Many of these projects involve interacting with youth at local elementary schools. As a result of recent success, we have adapted to account for a near doubling in membership and outside interest, continuing the primary objective of providing such a valuable experience to students not just within a class or a school, but a wider community.
