Team Associated DR10M Build!! | NEW RC Street Outlaw Car!!

The second this car was announced I put my preorder in. I've been super excited to get my hands on the Team Associated DR10M RC Drag Car. My RC no prep car is a mid motor car, it's the only thing I've ever run, based off of the SC5M/B5M chassis. So I knew this would be a great upgrade from that car and I should be able to pick it up quickly.
I built this car as fast as I could so that I could get some videos out for you guys on it. The car is beautiful, it'll definitely be a contender in the no prep scene very quickly. No other manufacturer has produced something like this with a lightweight composite chassis and many aluminum parts already included right out of the box. And especially at that price point. Other composite chassis out there are going for way more!!

I never been a drag car guy, but more of a 1/14 scale 4WD buggy thrasher, who digs team associated. The DR10M looks beast. I guess it has a billion parts, wow!

I think that's one of the things I liked about it over some of the carbon chassis on the market. A lot of parts support for simple things and everything is in one kit!

Great video! This is the 1st I've heard about this chassis. I've taken a step back from building my B5M with TARP chassis and my DR10 project. I needed this video to get me motivated again! Concerning the rear hubs, The old B5M does have the RR marked hub assembly installed on the left and the LR marked hub assembly installed on the right. That's normal! Thanks again for the informative video!

That's pretty interesting! Apparently they intended for it to looking the opposite way in the manual from what I'm understanding. No big deal though, pictures are our friends hahaha!

Nice build! Definitely a solid chassis 👍🏾💯 the L/R carrier is marked right, they do it in the manual that way as if the front of the car is facing you then the L/R is correct.

Thanks! I understand what you are saying but everything else is labeled like a normal car would be considered left is the drivers side and right is the passengers side. The arms are all labeled that way, these were the only parts that were different.

John Schultz from Associated done a great live video on this car yesterday I believe it was on his Facebook maybe KZbin. But it gives his complete setup on this car that he ran 1.70ET at our Chipdraw 22 race here in tulsa a couple weeks ago . Looks like it's gonna be a awesome car right out of the box .Have fun with it brother. And look for upgrades coming soon from undercover 😉

I run a trinity motor. There's a lot of people running r1 as well, tekin, castle. Lots of motor options out there.

I think those two washers are for the rear inner ball studs. I dont know that for sure though.

Like between the ball stud and the spacer? I'll have to go back look at the manual to see if I missed that.

@@FullThrottleRC I built mine without the thin spacer but that was the only thing I could figure that it was for. The manual was a little sketchy in places and yes the left and right rear hubs was different.

Did you use all the plastic transmission shims I guess that what they’re called that changes the angle of the transmission?? It’s at about 8:20 in this video

I had a few left over. I used the amount that the manual recommended at that step. I know there's a few other options but I went with the "stock" setup

Did u put the plastic piece on the wrong shaft... Can u just switch the hub carrier to the other shaft. So it's facing the other way???

Carbon fiber frame! Tech introduced By Kyosho and Tamiya in the early 80's for their average models! Nice, nice...That's what I call a real innovation.

I feel like your comment is trying to be sarcastic here. Correct me if I'm wrong. I think the carbon chassis is great. Nothing wrong with using technology that works! Just like using rubber for tires. Making new tires out of rubber doesn't make them innovative or impressive, it's the way you use that technology and the things around it!

Does the 1million diff oil work? I had 500k in mine and it was too much. Put 200k and seemed even more than 500k did. Putting in 100k in today to see if that frees it up some. Great video

I always wanted thicker diff fluid. I started with a locked diff but realized it needed some give on the top end. Started with 500k and it helped right away. 1 mil just seems to be closer to "locked" on the launch which is what I wanted.

I would say it was roughly about 5 hours although I didn't do it all in one sitting. Maybe 6 hours or so.

It's interesting that they decided to make the main chassis plate out of fibreglass and not carbon fiber. 🤔

@@FullThrottleRC I haven't seen it stated anywhere, but looking at your footage it definitely looks like fibreglass. However the AE website shows a Factory Team carbon fiber chassis plate upgrade.

@@Gavs_rc_hobbies It's probably fiberglass - which is actually better for the bottom part of the chassis (it's more durable and cheaper than carbon) but only if you can control flex!!! sometimes more flex is good. If you want the most durability you can put kevlar skid plates over fiberglass

Step 9 did the same to me. I figured out that your looking @ it front wheel facing you. It L&R drivers side in your right. I was like damn did they PA k the wrong part. Lol

Yea it was definitely confusing considering all of the other parts are labeled as left is the drivers side and right is the passenger side.

I used the exterior limiters on the front, the same way my old car was set up. But no other limiters

The main carbon upgrade I've see is the wheelie bar and main chassis plate. A little disappointed that chassis plate didn't come carbon fiber but its still a really solid car. Some of the other comparable chassis out there are going for $600 plus
