He's using Morgan Blue products made in Belgium, most pro teams use their stuff even when sponsored by other cleaning product manufacturers.

Old pro mechanics used to use diesel to clean drive trains, took off the old grease and oil but left a film on the chain and such, I dunno what that guy was using no doubt a Park product of some kind... judging his stand and tools were Park..After the chain is clean and dried, after you apply fresh lube you'll see the mechanic sealed the chain using grease, very helpful considering it looked cold and probably wet where they were racing.

I believe what they are doing is using degreaser then chain lube. But my mechanic said you can just run the chain through a cloth and just reapply chain lube. So your choice.

Does anyone know what the fellow sprayed into the Di2 derailleurs at 4:20? I thought they were supposed to be sealed maintenance-free units.

So much for never using a power washer on your bike. I guess they swap out bearings so much it doesn't matter. I would love to have that job!

5:15 good grief. Blasting high pressure water inside bottom brackets and hubs will only expell the grease and cause wear. But hey, if you have spare cassettes lined up along with 20 spare bikes in case the first one brakes then blasting the bike won't probably matter.
@themrjhable
@themrjhable 12 жыл бұрын
Oh yea you definitely should do a full clean with degreaser. I guess if you have nothing else at the moment you could just run the chain through cloth and reapply lube, but you should degrease/lube soon.

People complaining they rush wtf! They will have 18+ bikes to clean, at 9 mins each that's a long time
@ecke70
@ecke70 11 жыл бұрын
Well, this is a protour team that cleans like that. the bearings are not really an issue, because all bikes will be checked before each race. is there any water in the bearings they will just replace it. However for the rest of us, we might have to be a bit more careful with the high pressure washer..

I'm not sure that's recommended. Constantly reapplying lube without degreasing first would mean all of the abrasive dirt would still be there, which would surely shorten the life of your chain, chainrings, and cassette.

Tomas Kalyniuk LOL 😂 After putting on the race oil, he's rubbing waterproof paste (like Vaseline) on the chain so the oil doesn't get washed off in case it rains during the next day's racing. You can see the tub of Morgan Blue "aqua paste" on the side before he applies it, as well as some of it on his fingers if you look carefully. As pro race bikes get washed every day, the extra build up of chain grime from using the thick paste doesn't happen.
