Good thing the tournament isn’t IGFA sanctioned….. so those rules have nothing to do with a private tournament.

Not all tournaments have the same rules. Look up the rules, and you will see that it was a legal operation. "Hook and hand is permitted with one pass as soon as possible, then IGFA rules apply."

@@SlipItIn.Fishing hi there, understood. Still doesn’t make sense to me, I guess I am old school. Fishing bait as we do, how do you stop the mate from hooking the fish up and then passing it on to a novice angler? Or do other rules apply when fishing with baits? Have a good day.
