I gained a lot of respect for Lottie this episode. The way she just offers herself as a literal punching bag is one of the most selfless things I've seen.

I think I give Shauna a pass because before the wilderness, the worst she did was kind of normal dumb stuff for a 15 year old. Afterwards, when the plane crashed she did try to save van, she stepped up and contributed to the camp when she learned how to butcher the animals. Moat other things can be attributed to trauma and whatever affect the wilderness had on her (if there is a supernatural force). As an adult, she just told us why she has been distant from her husband and her kid (kinda tracks with the knowledge of what happened to her first born). I dont think she really matured past that point. Also, as for her fear about killing the goat, I'm starting to think that Shauna isnt only the butcher, but when sacrifices need to be made, she might also be the executioner. That is just me personally though, I'm kind of on everyones side out there.

I think after Season 1 ending people just assumed Lottie is the "villain" (I don't think any of the girls are) and went with it, interpreting everything she does as malicious. If you really think about it we have yet to see her do something malicious. Sure, she can be weird, but her intentions are good. So far she's actually been caring, empathetic, seems to want to help and be shoved into a role she didn't necessarily want
@kunikuzushis

That’s why the Lottie hate has been weird to me because she’s done nothing wrong in the past timeline at least.
@hh-ug4ki
@hh-ug4ki Жыл бұрын
@@kunikuzushis I think just like the adults in the show who seem to pin all their actions in the wilderness on lottie, society tends to villainize people diagnosed with mental illnesses so that might be the case. idk. like, again, she can be weird and off putting sometimes but you can tell her intentions were not malicious. even in the last episode, she is on her deathbed telling misty if she dies she wants them to eat her so they don't starve to death. but you still have people claiming she actually had ulterior motives and is just manipulative and is the big bad villain. i don't see an explanation to that (especially after seeing so many instances where she is shown to be put words in her mouth by others, is kind of a reluctant leader and is seen to be understanding of others and self sacrificial to a fault) but ableism.

idk I just can't help but love Shauna, in some weird ways, her and Nat seems like the most human out of them. But, the thing is Shauna did one stupid mistake before the plane crash, that is very fd up, but then in the wilderness she suffered the most by losing her baby, and all that sh1t fro Lottie calling him "our baby", I would hold a lot of anger towards her too. But yeah, I think people underestimate what the hunger and the grieve could make her do at the moment, the pain of loosing a son is already unimaginable to me, add to the fact they are trapped is this hell. In regards of present Shauna, of course she is fd up, but I don't think she is a sociopath, she loves the people around her, just in a weird way, that's why loved the scene with the goat so much. because it shows how much she still cares for humanity, even tho she is a killer

I think that's the best thing about this show - every character seems like they're neither good nor bad. They're all incredibly flawed and fucked up in their own way, either due to just life or the cards they were dealt from the crash. I think Shauna is such a well written, well rounded character because as much as I hate her - I love her. Both Sophie and Melanie give such life to her that genuinely surprises me every time a new thing unfolds. Like the past few episodes have been heartbreaking for Shauna, of course she's upset and taking it out on them. Not to mention, she lost AND ate her best friend, just lost her baby that she thought she didn't want and when she finally came to the realization that she'd love that baby, the wilderness dream fucked with her head. I saw online but I think this is the shift that numbs her to not caring about gutting and eating the pit girl (and possibly more of their friends), because as we know Shauna is the one who guts their animals - that will most likely extend to when things progress. I just can't help but love the writing (WGA strong) and how it reflected to adult Shauna too not caring for Callie this whole time because of that loss, and how when she gave in to caring for the baby she didn't really have, it was taken from her. It's just so good and so sad - even if tbh I cant' stand her

this was the episode to go team lottie. i wonder if she felt guilty because they asked for shauna to live and they didnt ask for the baby to live. i think lottie feels a lot of pressure and weight of things happening like shes supposed to make the things they need happen and thats a lot of responsibility. also im not surprised nat bought into the cult. shes been in rehab a lot and seemed to be participating in the pilot episode, enjoying the place she was in. shes probably used to controled places where shes asked to do a lot of self work. i cant believe they found the body. i mean they didnt find the head or hands but still. did nobody have some lye ffs?! that last scene with the beating made me cry. it was so messed up and also such a sacrifice on lotties part because she thought that shauna needed it in order to move forward. im glad ben didnt jump. and im very worried about where crystal/kristen went.

yall are like 1000% missing the point. none of the girls actions are meant to be rational! they are acting irrationally because they are in a horrific situation! shauna shouldn’t have beaten lottie up, but lottie also shouldnt have let her. none of them are in the right and none of them are in the wrong! shauna just gave birth to her DEAD CHILD and lottie is trying to help her cope. its a terrible and unhealthy way to cope, but literally nothing thats going on is healthy and thats the point!!

Shauna is hurt more than anyone there. As a teen sleeping with your bff’s bf is really just a bad decision and being a dumb teenager. You know how something seems kinda off to you, but you don't really know why? When Lottie was talking to her therapist, I was like damn Lottie is lucky to have an on call therapist who does night sessions. So the revelation that there was no therapist, I was like oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh! 😅 Went from Damn, Lottie is a real one to Jesus Shauna stop, by the third or fourth kick in the back. Not sure why at all, but I feel like Ben survives. Mostly because we all expect him to die. Between this and The Sandman John Cameron Mitchell is having a well deserved moment! Edit: Soft theory that Walter was dating Jessica Roberts (that was the name?), the journalist Misty killed in season 1.

Having Sex with Jeff in the pre-crash was likely a passive aggressive way to get Jackie to unfriend her so she could "go off in shame to Brown University." It was an awful thing to do but Shauna wasn't able to tell Jackie that she didn't want to go to school with her. The irony is she likely would have had an abortion and gone off to Brown and never married Jeff and never had Callie.....but Jackie would still be alive. What actually did happen is that Jackie died due to a stupid fight and Shauna didn't even get to keep the baby that was a reminder of Jackie so she lost twice in such a short period of time.

Here's my theory....I think that the scene we see in the Episode 8 trailer where blood splatters on the picture of Jeff, Shauna and Callie might be Jeff killing himself and taking the blame for Adam's murder. So he can spare Shauna and Callie from prison? Or it's just a dream sequence where Shauna kills herself? Can't wait to find that out and if Walter has snitched on Misty and made her an accomplice? I've been thinking for a while now that those who appeared most sane in the beginning will be the most messed up (Shauna in particular), and the ones that seemed crazy are the most sane in the modern day (Lottie). Though of they all have varying results of massive trauma, no one's innocent or actually healthy in the slightest. And I'm sure there were multiple Antler Queens, too. Like it was a mantle that got passed around ceremonially, rather than one top bad guy character. But I do think Shauna's got a full blown Walter White story arc ahead. Her downward spiral feels like it's just begun after repressing everything for so long.

Yeah, out of the 6 main characters, Shauna is the least likable, imo. The character has become impossible to root for. She comes across as very Mary Sue-ish. Even as great as the acting is for both versions, I feel like a lot of the scenes written for Shauna are more to show off Melanie Lynskey and Sophie Nélisse's phenomenal acting skills more so than anything. There's nothing wrong with great acting, but especially in the present day, I feel as if some of Shauna's emotional breakdowns feel a tad forced at times from a writing standpoint.

Maybe Im in the minority, but I found this episode to be BORING! With only 2 episodes left, I was thinking we were finally going to get into some of what the hell is going on out there. I think the majority of viewers are mainly captivated by the old timeline, but they force so much of this current day stuff, its not entertaining. I want to see what's going on and all the evil crap in the 90s in the woods. This episode gave me none of that, and we're running out of time for any answers! I loved season 1, but as this season has gone on, it has gotten to a point where I think they know they have a hit and are stretching this out for many seasons. Kind of like LOST did, and I dont have the patience for that, plus it makes these episodes much less fun and again kinda boring.

First season of the show was pretty good and interesting but this season has been so slow and dragged out with so much filler. Was excited for this season before it started but after watching the content we’re given, it’s time to check out.
