Last time I talked to David he had a buyer showing real interest. His hope is to sell, make everyone whole, and retire in February. I hope it all works out for him and the company.

I've seen those generators with like 8" dia an they work. The owner modified his bigger. And real nice job there you built, an paint.

That is what the testing is all about, trying things like trim and finding out how the charging system performs / chasing gremlins 🙂

So I discovered that the solar charge component I have in between won’t let the current through. I should be seeing 13+ volts while cruising. So I’ve just eliminated it, as I believe the LifePO4 4 battery will have no problems with the 4-5 amp charge from the generator. A new test for the next flight:) Really fun proven no matter what.

@@DTMinimax Do make sure you have some form of battery management system or you could end up with a fire in the cockpit.

Dennis. Just wondering why the prop bolts aren't safety wired. I'm guessing that the prop bolts have self locking nuts or other nuts with a flat washer and lock washer. Just wondering. Every time I look at your plane, it just keeps getting better and better. It will be a show stopper at a breakfast fly-in. I'd love to be there with you. Mike, N6395T

Thanks Michael! Yea the VW doesn’t have threads in the hub so it has lock nuts on the backside.

Hi, Dennis! I know you've put a tiny tach in, I'm wondering if you considered the Westach Y2AT5-2LC, ACS part number 10-04004. I have the 37 hp Casler engine, and would prefer a "round gauge" tach to a digital readout, if it works as well as the tiny tach.

I never looked at that one. I’m referencing the tiny tach and using that data to keep making small adjustments to the MGL. It’s getting closer but I have to adjust it again.

Fine tuning now certainly makes for less stressful flights later. Shouldn't the genipod keep the voltage up while cruising. Maybe a wiring issue? At almost 70 I don't mind having to give up flying several years back. Had lots of fun as an A&P and building two home-builds, but as everyone of us will say we miss it. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Thank you! What I’ve determined is that the device I have inline is constantly searching for a consistent input, the pattern didn’t allow for that. I’m going to eliminate that device and just let the current from the Gennipod go direct.

Excellent flight. I could tell immediately that your landing was better and that it seemed easier to track the centerline. Well done with the trim tab. I've been wondering if it would be possible or advisable if during the build you could offset the vertical fin to account for a particular engine. For the VW motor I would imagine that you would offset the fin clockwise a few degrees maybe (looking from the top down). That would effectively give you left rudder if my thinking is correct. Maybe I'll ask TEAM about that. Also, it occurs to me that an offset from centerline of the engine thrust could do the same thing. How do you get the thrust centerline correct when installing the engine?

Mine is offset 1/8” at the outer edge of the back plate. Left thrust line of course. Your thinking is correct on the fin. It was like a different airplane all together.
