This episode brought tears to my eyes for different reasons. Watching the Skousens pack out Jeff's elk on horseback, the soral horse with the big blaze, was identical to my horse we had to put down a few years ago. He was a foal my dad had given to me, I raised, broke and trained myself. He packed out many of my elk. So seeing it, brought back a flood of emotions plus the fact it was September 16th, my late dad's birthday. Mark punching his tag was a class act, knowing they had done everything to recover that bull. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs.

Laurie, I got this horse 23 years ago. He is now 24. His name is Curley and I know within the next few years he won't be able to go with us anymore. He is bulletproof and will be sorely missed when he is too old to make it up and down the steep mountains packing our bulls out. Thanks for sharing your experience!

Mark is a top notch character to notch his tag, just shows he figured that bull would survive and not likely able to get back on him so just in my mind the absolute only thing to do! Every season of destination elk has great footage. This year hasn't disappointed. From Corey shooting a bull while fighting. Jeff and Mark with their up close encounter to the massive herd they saw. Ford having a raghorn come through while he is giving a recap. Just awesome this year. It was also cool to see bulls bugle in a weak or lighter tone. Lastly much respect to Mark for punching his tag even though he didn't drop the elk. Class act

Punching that tag was ethics at a high level. With the experience the Skousens have, I'm sure few people would have questioned a decision to call it a non-lethal shot and continue but they hold themselves accountable to a higher level than that. Well done sir!

Wow, what great action. So nice to see all the bulls out and talking. Marks shoot shows that we all need to check our equipment daily. And, practice on a moving target is always good to practice for leading your shout. It stops those back gut shots. I can't believe that Marks bull didn't go down on that shot. Sometimes bulls just don't stop. Great job guys! Can't wait for the next episode and more Donnie jokes.

Skousen team, class act. I did the same thing 3 years ago. It hurts, but you know you made the right call. Sometimes it doesn't go the way we want it even though we've put some much time into preparing for this moment all year. For most of us, we only get the weekends or a maybe a week during archery season and when we make a mistake it feels like all that preparation was ruined in a matter of seconds. Happens to new hunters and veterans just the same. Learn from your mistakes and keep at it! Love the videos!

I felt so bad for Mark. I remember when I was learning to hunt I made a few bad shots throughout a few years which I wasn't proud of. I had made yet another bad shot and was in the same frame of mind to just notch my tag. While sitting down eating my sandwich I heard the death call of my very 1st bull. Seeing Mark talk about his shot placement brought back this moment for me. I'll never forget that. Good job Mark, shows what a great hunter you are. Not everyone would do that.
