Ok.. last comment... I swear. LOL I have a Garmin Force, I got it in July and have had NO issues. Guys have reported issues with the pedal getting wet and loosing the batteries due to moisture. BUT if you hard wire the trolling motor pedal it doesn't have that issue. I haven't wired mine yet, and haven't had any issues, but I plan to this winter when I rewire my Champion. I also have Panoptix Livescope, and it is great! The only thing I would tell folks is it isn't the end all be all. Its a tool. I have seen schools of fish, but couldn't get them to bite. So just because it shows you the fish doesn't mean that you WILL catch them.

Tiny boat nation builds chill boxes for live wells. I think better water circulation would be better. Drastically changing water temp is bad for fish.

You need to do an over under on a 20 foot cat. Puma or Puma hybrid? Slick boats that are well made. Alan in parts is a God send for cat owners....

First off merry Christmas! Boats. I own a 2018 Godfrey pontoon, a 2002 270 searay sundeck, and my pride and joy a 1997 270z hydra-sport bass boat that is showroom condition.....and I fish it hard and often. Every year I budget $1k per boat for maintenance and upgrades. If I don’t spend the 1k it’s banked for year #2 and so-forth. This year the searay is getting all new covers, Bimini and Bimini covers. Pontoon is newer. We did year maintenance, new prop, cleaning and placed In storage. My hydra-sport I fish all year long even in winter. But this year I’m upgrading the trolling motor to a new motorguide pro tour. It’s been on back order. I’m removing the minnkota maximum, but I wanted spot lock and It had a universal transducer in the head. As far as bass boat design. Caymas has my attention, but is it ground up rethinking?! Naw. Venus has introduced several new boats, but they really redesign from the ground up and scrutinize traditional designs? Not really. What I see is boat designers and builders don’t have the insight on how to partner with the bass electronics and accessory aftermarket to make a truly perfect boat. They do it in the automotive industry, why not the bass industry. That doesn’t mean they should take a 70k boat and hack it up to a 100k boat just because!

Lowrance Ghost is great in the weeds. Fished half of last summer in mostly NY grass lakes and it 4x4 through it like no other. No issues. The hell you talking about whistles? Oh and btw ask Travis Mansion aka smallmouthcrush how he likes the Garmin trolling motor.

I have the Ghost and love it but I will say it is not the best in the thicker grass. I sure hope soon that they address the issue with that maybe bigger prop or some cut off system. Other then that the trolling is a beast, the battery life is amazing with it and it had tons of power. When I can move my 20 foot Ranger up river in a swift current it makes me happy. IMO it is the best money i've spent to date on an upgrade.

I would love to see Used Buyers guide. Known hull issues/ones that stand out, how to check things like a transom, motor hours, compression, etc..., costs to repair those items compared to the cost of a new boat. This is all stuff I researched for my previous purchase that definitely helped me and I'm sure would help others looking for that used boat in 5-30k range. Buying a boat off Facebook marketplace or craigslist can be a scary thought, but can also pay off.

I am the owner of a 2015 basscat and there is 1 thing I have that comes from the factory on a basscat that no other bass boat Manufactor has is the security system. Now it’s not a state of the art system but it is at least something that if someone breaks into your box when your parked over night somewhere that the horn goes off to alert you and attempt to deter the person from staying around. For one I don’t understand how we pay 80 to 90k for boats that are still using the old latch systems we have been using for years. Some Manufactor has to be able to make the storage boxes more secure. I have a new ram 2500 and hell I don’t even have to put my finger on the key fob to lock or unlock the door and it was less expensive than the boat. Basscat attempts to do something with the security system and I don’t know why other boat makers do not install a system of their own but with as much money as we have in this fishing equipment I would love to see a company come up with a good way to secure these storage boxes.

I think props is an untapped market. Variable pitch props, for holeshot, cruise, and speed. Find a way to take the guess work out of propping each boat. It spans all markets, could even be key in electric applications.

Has BRP given up on the Ghost drive? Tin is so popular because like myself it is easier to get into a 18' 150 class boat thats a tin versus glass. I'm waiting for someone to step up and make an affordable glass rig. When we are paying more for the boat than your tow rig thats problematic.

We haven't seen or heard anything about BRP and the Ghost drive yet. We agree with ya...prices are getting so damn high. The problem is you can get a 10-15 year loan on these rigs and the banks are more then happy to loan ya the money for them.

I think our fish finders, boat electronics are where it’s at with what is going on with your boat, bait well, battery amps, or any issue that pertains to the boat. As boaters we don’t need to be fumbling with our phones while boating or fishing

How about boating industry incorporating carbon fiber into hulls to reduce weight. Also plastic fiber impregnated hulls molded to desired shape. Tin boats cold move to hydroformed aluminum hulls. These advancements will be coming in next decade.

I love my old boat 1990 482v and hummingbird 989si units and blackmax 175hp I have had it for 6 years . I would love new electronics but man at 2k each and 2k for a trolling motor . I just hope to get good used products when I need them . And boats man they cost more than my house I cant do it . Even 20 year old boats are 20k but I am glad someone can get the stuff its truly amazing to see how far this sport has come .

Got a garmin force and the foot peddle wasn’t working right had to wait 1 weeks for another one. Now there’s a recall for water intrusion and needs to install a rubber seal now on the wires going into the head unit.

Loving the idea of the Power Pole charger. Been running a Stealth charger for years... Love it.. Never run out of batteries with the constant charging going on from the big motor.. Couple different trips I have fished the Mississippi for a week and never plugged in the boat. But the Stealth is twice the price of the PP Charger. And if I'm understanding correctly the PP can change how much juice goes into each battery with an app on your phone.That would be tremendous in my opinion..... And I loved the episode....As always.. You guys never disappoint

I would love to talk about the boating taboo . Price ! I would like to start with engine companies. V6 outboard vs V6 car. A $25000 price tag on a outboard is nuts 🥜 seeing you get an engine on a stick (1950 technology) where a car you get v6 automatic transmission full interior a body chassis airbag system etc. let’s say $30000 base price. Who do we blame for this? BANKS letting a mortgage be put on a boat/ engine that will be outdated before the loan expires. If you buy a middle of the road glass boat say 65k and the bank allows 15 year financing what is that boat worth in 15 years? Maybe the sum of the last 3 years payments. Just my 2 cent but these banks and companies are really making it hard for young upcoming people to get into this sport we love .

Regarding trolling motors, I was fortunate to be a boat marshal in the FLW super tournament in Lacrosse this year, and the 3 days I was doing that, each boat had a diff trolling motor. I experienced the ultrex, garmin force, and lowrance ghost. The guy I was with on day 3 had the lowrance and he said once he gets home he was putting his ultrex back on. The ghost was awful in the weeds. The guy with the force was having issues all day with the foot pedal, and the guy with the ultrex had zero issues. After them 3 days, I decided to go with the ultrex on my new boat and I have zero complaints. I hit a huge wave at 50mph and the damn thing deployed on me and other than me getting a face full of water, nothing broke!!

One thing I’ll say is all these electronics (helix) shallow anchors(talons) ultrex motors. Quality has to get better. I spent lots of cash last 2 years updating and had problems with all updates to my trusted 2002 skeeter with 225 Yamaha that has been very good to me for over 10 years. High prices demand quality.

Love the channel, I'm a tin man cause I've been up to my ass in glass, boats that is... glass boats are nice but they have priced themselves out of 75% of Americans budget... it amazes me that my ram 3500 truck with Cummins diesel cost less than a new fiberglass bass boat, with butt connectors,shity wiring and a outboard that won't last 1/4 the life of my diesel truck... just my 2 cents.. thank you for all that y'all do!! My Minn Kota Ultrex is a beast! Have had zero issues with it. Keeps me locked in high winds and rough water. It’s a game changer. Only con I’ve found so far it doesn’t work with Garmin units

Don’t these manufacturers understand that most of theirs secret info ie pricing is right online? I’ve worked in the business for over 20yrs. From Eagle River Wisconsin, Southern Wis, Chicago and Now Florida. I’ve been ripped off by the best and served some of the best customers in the biz. By far my favorite channel on KZbin so thank you! After seeing Jason Christie switch and John Cox having success I wouldn’t be shocked to see a few more companies diving into the larger tin boats in the coming years especially if a few more pros start switching. Another thing that you see more guys using is the Aqua Vu’s. One of three companies is going to figure out how to incorporate that into their finder. Owner of a 17ft Lowe. My first boat bought last year and couldn’t be happier.

Problem with the big tin boats is that they are pretty much the same price as the glass one. Easier maintenance, sure, but don’t ride near as well in the rough stuff.

More Wireless integration of Depthfiders. Integrate with IPads, computers etc. I agree smaller boat manufacturers will pick up share and large will shrink some. People are looking for the best bang for the buck. Got an Alumacraft 175 dominator.

Just bought a 1997 Triton TR21 with a 150hp EFI. Changed the lower unit oil what else should I do to make sure its in tune? I am running 60mph at 5200rpms. I know she has some more speed but haven't pushed her to 5800 rpm yet. Love the videos keep up the great work!

Change spark plugs, change fuel filter, run a fuel ring free. Change lower unit oil 1 to 2 times a year depending how much you use it. Always us premium fuel with out ethanel. Winterize the 2 cycle if your not going to use it for several months during the winter, but of your like me I fish until the water starts getting ice on it.

I usually drain my oil June July and when the ice comes over the lake ill change it, so it's ready when the ice is off, or of I take a trip south to fish texas area.

“Tin Riggin” for a shirt but what blows my mind is the price of the motors. I know corrosion resistance is huge being in the water but the price of any 250 vs a stock LS crate motor from Chevy, the LS is way cheaper and pushing 400 hp. The bass boat manufacturers have priced many anglers out of the market. Gonna be worse in 2021 with so many out of work. If they want to survive, they will have to find ways to cut costs and reduce prices.

Running the Ultrex and have loved it so far, no problems and reliable. Running it on a ranger 461vs with bird 10’s as the monitors and talons. How about a used series over/under priced?

I really like your energy and knowledge, but WOW I will never be "OK" with 90k. What would you suggest is a "good tin boat" for 40k deep V if one even exists? If not, I'm at the point where I'll buy an old 40hp on a 17' and call it good. I"ll be a "fair weather fisherman" and I'll keep the rest of my money in the bank and retire earlier. Sorry, I just do not think MOST boats are even close to being worth what they cost. JMO.

Oh we agree 99% of the boats on the market are over priced. Check out our OVER / UNDER Series where we price out new glass and tin rigs and give you our opinion on if we think the boat is overpriced or undervalued.

@@TeamMarineService Oh I have been watching those, spent a couple hours watching the OVER/UNDER vids last night. If I drop 40k I'm leaning towards one of three walleye boats: LUND Impact - Smokercraft Adventurer or Starcraft Delta. More than anything I'm trying to get intel on the actual construction of the boat vs all the glitter. If you have knowledge of any of these I"m ALL EARS. Thanks again for knowledge.

Purchased an Ulterra, anxious to set up an integrated network. Minn Kota by far has the best spot lock out there, so that is what I went with this year for walleye fishing, full well knowing that I was going to have to add new units. Currently I have a hook 9 and while it works well, I cannot wait to have an xducer up front and on the back. I think many feel this way save the hardcore bass guys with the live scope.

The Ranger tin boat is declining in fit and finish. Big difference between 2020 and 2021 models in the small things. You can definitely see the Tracker influence in the new Ranger tin rigs. I wouldn’t be surprised in the next 24 months you will see more things change in them (plastic consoles, wooden decks, etc.)

I agree seams like Jonny Morris is all about cutting quality for bigger profits. He always cuts costs but not the price tag.
