I think a big part of season 3 is that the new avatars can't be here to help the characters in the new age. That scene with Tenzin overlooking the bay doesn't hit as hard if we know Aang can talk to him from the spirit world still.

I think that Zaheer is the best avatar villain. An air bending villain is such a novel concept, and it shows that some people can use the ideals of the air nation in different ways, and I love it And I think his ability to fly and be very sufficient in it is a perfect example. like when he broke his girlfriend out of prison but still has the ability to fly is such a Suttle way of how he sees her and his other comrades. (I have sooooo much more to say about this later)

I genuinely wished the Red Lotus were the main villains from the start and lasted at least 3 Books (I'd be okay with 4 being the aftermath of their defeat). They were legit funnier, more interesting, more intimidating, and much wiser than most (if not all) of the foes the Avatar has faced before.

It always seemed strange to me that, initially, Aang put all the pressure of bringing back the airnomad culture on Katara’s uterus, rather than looking for alternatives. And it wasn’t fair for Tenzin because all the airbending culture fell into him, and definitely not fair for Katara because she probably wanted to do other things in her life than just give Avatar Aang babies- she lived this trophy-wife kind of life after ATLA, and even Bumi and Kya say that their memories of the family are quite different from how Tenzin remembers his childhood, all because Aang favored his airbending culture. Also- if the goal were to repopulate the airnomad culture… wouldn’t it have made sense to make more than one airbending child? I wonder why Katara stopped having kids with Aang after Tenzin. 😬

I don't think so. He fought Aaang Ozai and never defeated him. Only in the last episode was he able to obtain the knowledge of all avatars and defeat Ozai in the avatar state. Also, Azula nearly killed Aang. He was brought back to life thanks to Katara. I think Except for Kyoshi, no avatar is stronger than the best master benders. For example, Aang or Korra can not beat Toph.
