I agree that they're both awful films and I think the lack of internet helped Dame Mirren quite a lot; had the film released during the internet age, it would've been a constant crown of shame, for sure.

Just for the record, Mirren and her respected, high profile costars Peter O'Toole, Sir John Gielgud, etc, didn't know that the film's slimy producer was going to shoot and edit hardcore porn into the movie and kick the director off the film and POORLY edit the whole thing himself, so they all get a pass for that.

That movie is so disturbing. It damaged me for life. I kept thinking of the second person ingesting feces and being so grossed out that they vomit it but it eventually gets sent back their way, vomit and all… to ultimately be swallowed and passed to the next person.

I went to school with the kid who co-created or wrote the Human Centipede. He was this crazy, hilarious kid. I have one of his semester movies on VHS somewhere, and it's as wild and bizarre as anything, iirc. (tbh, all I remember was a box of kleenex besides his bed because he filmed part of it in his dorm room, and someone in the audience later made fun of him for his nightly emissions wipes lmao and he kept denying it.) Not sure where he's at now, but gotta love knowing someone pseudo-famous (or was in 2010s haha)
