Anyone else wondering what day of the week her co-written with Will Shortz puzzle appeared? End of week for sure but, because of the celebrity status, most likely Sunday. It would be fun to have a celebrity ranking that way. "Einstein, you're a Saturday. Chaplin? Usually a Thursday, often a Friday. Now get back to work! We have physics to solve and stories to tell. Step on it!"

I struggle every damn week with the Monday crossword. I've tried HUNDREDS. Every week, I can never, EVER complete one without cheating. Hours to get maybe 80% complete. Hand to my wife, who finishes the rest off in under a minute. So aggravating to witness. So, Conan... for your quip about easiness of Monday crosswords, let me retort with a seven letter phrase used show hostility and anger to smug individuals, starts with the letter F.

Sorry but Poker Face is contrived AF. Every episode seems to get worse on the whole and it's not like watching real characters unfold a story, it's like watching actors following a scripted breadcrumb trail. Many episodes of the original few series of Columbo were brilliantly written and Falk was so naturalistic. Columbo also didn't have some weird magic power where he just knew who was lying, he was intelligent, understood the human mind well and figured it out with a lot of careful police work. The reasons he would sometimes figure out the likely culprit very early was explained with the clues and odd things he noticed at the crime scene, as well as studying their behavior, their notices and having a good read on people because Columbo was a man of the people. Having a female detective character just always copying Columbo and then even just having some magic power instead of actual intelligence is backwards, not progressive at all. Her character in in fact very dull and unlikeable, and has no roots or depth at all, just randomly working at a new about-to-be crime scene each episode and having magic powers instead of brains. This show is just some woman doing random stuff trying to copy Columbo and then like yelling at a dog calling itracist... How about actually crafting a story and characters that unfold a story with racial subtext that people can learn from, not just doing something utterly superficial to have a character ranting that "racism is bad!". Nobody learns a thing from doing that and in fact all it does it stifle imaginations of those who watch to enjoy and further divide those who see through it (rightly so) as superficial and creatively bankrupt socio-political ranting. I also take issue with this thing now of creating strong female characters in anything requires us to just copy old male characters that were great, or a strong woman has to just do masculine stuff to be a strong female, like be a special forces soldier or something...why? Why can't there be original female characters that are good in their own right, not just this idea that women have to copy men to be good and strong, and that for us to have strong female fictional characters all the great and often beloved male characters have to be deconstructed and destroyed and then replaced by women and so on. Seriously? And everyone thinks that's so progressive? Also, good movies and shows in the past used to put so much craft, effort and subtlety into dealing with issues like those, not just get some kids to write whatever and then throw in some ranting than A is bad and B is good. This is what passes for "genius" now?

Contrived? In Columbo's first episode, he catches the guy because he's a writer and the murder is the same as the plot of one of his books! Columbo is one of the best shows of all time, but it wasn't perfectly constructed - it was funny & gimmicky alongside moments that were surprisingly grounded & thoughtful. If you don't like Poker Face, by all means don't like it - but critique it for what it is, not for what it isn't.

@@Nay-kp6uuhe's right through, Rian Johnson arguably de-railed the prequels. Although in his defense it's ultimately Kathleen Kennedy's fault for a lack of an overall cohesive vision. But stop defending the guy like he didn't have any part in it, he could have dialed it back but decided to make Luke Skywalker drink alien titty milk before killing him off...

So tired of this comment. It’s a single movie out of 11 so far. It’s well made and well acted. It does controversial things many don’t like (including me), but guess what? The Empire Strikes Back pissed off a lot of fans when it was released. Then there’s the wooden Epsidoes 1 & 2 everyone hated on. However, it’s the generations that grew up with those movies that love them and eventually bring them back into fashion. You have an opinion of the movie. Great. But that doesn’t decide an entire mythology or franchise is somehow dead. Enjoy the ones you like and leave it at that.
