This is such a delightful game. I love the extra mile they went with the overall production quality- from the paper to the birdhouse and wooden dice, everything just feels above and beyond. I'm happy to see you guys giving it a play on stream.

My wife and I recently played with this expansion for the first time. Love the ease of getting food now, but it makes getting cards in hand and eggs slightly more scarce. Overall, this is a big improvement.

Flightless birds are wildcards for the wingspan count, not 0. Also, ties in end of round goals split the combined points for the positions. :)

So, fun fact, Horsfield's Bronze Cuckoo is named after an American naturalist, Dr. Thomas Horsfield (1773-1859). He has several common names of bird species named for him, such as Horsfield's Babbler, Horsfield's Thrush.

AND cuckoos aren't the only nest parasites! This is a reproductive strategy that some birds have to limit the time spent building a nest and raising chicks. Instead, they secretly lay eggs in other bird's nests and the host bird will raise the cuckoo's chick as its own. In Wingspan, nest parasites like cuckoos are represented by that pink power that gives you an extra egg when someone else lays an egg. In North America, Brown-headed Cowbirds are also nest parasites and have been shown to destroy the nests of host birds that don't feed the cowbird nestling. It's some mafia-level shit.

Nectar should feel overpowered in this expansion but it also adds some new flavor to the game which I enjoy I must say.

I find nectar to be overpowered. Personally I'd make a house rule that makes nectar not wild while keeping all other rules around it the same.
