I like this kind of videos, sobrang informative. All comes with years of experience in automotive. May technical side and sharing of experiences that nobody knows about lalo na sa mga baguhang car owner. Ganda isipin na si team dy is leaning towards hybrid that means hybrid is the big thing now given na si team dy galing sa ce engines. Wow. I owned a toyota yaris cross and hesitant ako mag hev. This is just a statement of trusting for hybrid is a no brainer for first time car buyers. Minsan masarap makinig sa ganito kesa sa mga car agents na just looking for a sale. Kudos!

We have a byd sealion and its a very good purchase so far. 100 pesos on electricity per day to travel from ortigas to quezon city and back. Comparing to our toyotas, build quality, suspension is solid. Very comfortable car. 😊

I also don't believe sa resale value. Buy something that you will enjoy driving. If you are going to buy because of resale value mastress ka lang in the long run. Gaya ng sinabi ni Sir TeamDy, marami kang kakompetensya sa reselling, matagal makahanap ng direct buyer, mauubos oras mo sa dami ng magiinquire sayo and ang bagsak mo din is sa buy and seller ka mag bebenta which is mababa din ang resale value. And one more thing I like tech and innovation, kaya enjoy ako sa SL6 ko ngayon. It is really a bang for the buck! Maganda resale value explanation - makes sense for those who update to new cars regularly. But for the long term owners-- who keep cars for 10~20 years, it remains to be seen. Key dito yung parts durability and availability. My Japanese cars are 17 and 24 years old and going strong. I'm watching the Chinese cars space for the next 10 years. Promising naman, if you look at MG cars from 2015.

Chinese car na po ang MG nabili sila ng SAIC. Mababa talaga ang resale ng chinese cars yun GS8 ko ang baba ng trade-in value pero yun 2019 Ford Raptor ko ang taas ng resale. Madali din naman magbenta sa mga 2nd hand car dealership madaming buyers pa din ang ICE. Between japanese and chinese hybrid mas saleable ang japanese hybrids especially Toyota kasi sila ang pioneer ng hybrid talagang matibay ang hybrid cars nila. Real talk ito mga paps. Isa din sa dahilan is mahal ang battery ng PHEV almost 1/3 ng price ng car kasi malaki ang capacity. Ang battery ng toyota na 5kwh capacity is 200k. For SL6 na 18kwh siguro more than 600k. Hindi nila sasabihin ang price sa yo. Bawi naman sa savings pero try to sell it after 4 years mahirap ibenta kasi aabutan sila ng battery expiration. Also mas matipid ang Toyota CCX kasi everytime na mag charge ka ng SL6 ang cost ng electricity is 290. With the same distance travelled ng CCX you will only par around 270.

Agree 101% with all the things you mentioned. ICE have reached it's peak and still not efficient in the city. I got my Sealion 2 months ago. I still use my state of the art ICE cars 2 years old brand new once a week.

@TeamDyTV You have a very good review. DM-i is a breakthrough until we transition to full EV. I think we just need a cheaper/better battery than Lithium Ion technology to entice people to transition. You are clearly following the evolution of ICE engines. Most of them i already know, but you have more knowledge. Very impressive and informative. Good job, sir. Have you checked the new Honda's eHEV? Although it is not plug in as the SL6, it is similar in technology. They use electric motor to propel the wheels, and ICE acts like a generator. There is a good YT that explains the whole concept. The new RAMcharger in the US is also using similar technology.

Kung yung mga nakatoyota at honda nga pg 5 years na gusto na ng bago tapos sasabihin ng iba update after 10 years. 5 years later, imagine kung anong mga innovative cars na meron ang mundo. Not to mention toyota eyeing byd's technology on their future phevs/hevs, that only means byd is something else. 8 years battery warranty pa yan. Tsaka kung mahirapan man ang owners na ibenta mga byd sl6 nila in the future for a newer car, may nauuso na po na trade in! 😆 Wala na masyado relevance yang resale value sa totoo lang kung may pera lang ang tao. Sa mga sakto lang, mahigpit na yakap nalang muna kayo sa mga multicab at wigo niyo! 🍻

Pero with regard to the resale value, let’s consider the BYD Sealion. We are getting value here-sobrang nagkakalayo ang presyo na inilabas sa atin compared sa ibang Asian countries. In fact, sa Australia, it’s over ₱2 million, ganoon din sa UK, mataas rin ang presyo. Tapos dito, we are covered by EVIDA tax benefits at subsidized pa ng China. Kung titignan mo, ang factory competitors nito ay tulad ng RAV4 at Outlander, which are double the price. So isipin mo na lang, from the start, you’re already getting double the value with the BYD Sealion. Magde-depreciate man ito, pero hindi kasing lala dahil napaka-competitive na ng presyo niya dito sa Pilipinas. Next year naman, gagamitin ng Toyota ang DMI technology ng Sealion, with that association, malay mo it holds It's value well. Also, matagal rin ang warranty nito. At kung magde-depreciate man, isipin mo na lang yung natipid mo upfront. Mas mura siya sa simula, may cheaper PMS, at matipid sa gasolina in the long run. Every kilometer you travel, nakakatipid ka-kaya sulit pa rin ang investment mo overall.

Just to clarify the notion about DMi tech, Toyota will use it in their plug-in hybrid offering, not in their current hybrid models. By then, it would make an interesting comparison on their pricing (apples to apples na)

The bZ3 starts at 189,800 CNY (around $27,000) with a 65.28 kWh battery, 616 km range (CLTC), and 245 HP. Meanwhile, the BYD Seal starts at 212,800 CNY (around $30,100) with an 82.5 kWh battery, 700 km range (CLTC), and optional AWD with 530 HP and 0-100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. Even though the Seal is slightly more expensive, you’re paying for far superior specs, better performance, and the same Blade battery technology that Toyota borrows. In the Philippines, the BYD Seal 5 (plug-in hybrid) starts at just ₱995,000-₱1,200,000, while the Hybrid Corolla Cross from Toyota starts at ₱1.5m without plug-in hybrid tech or EV range. Based on pricing and specs, BYD wins in value while Toyota relies heavily on its badge.

I'm not sure if it can be called ROI, since you are not really making money from it. By definition, ROI = (profit - cost) / cost, where profit is the amount of money a business has left after subtracting its expenses from its revenue. Maybe if you use it for ride-sharing i.e. Uber/Grab or as a taxi then that would be applicable since there is money coming in. I think it's more like immediate savings - you save more by having relatively lower fuel cost compared to regular ICE cars. And the savings you get from the DM-i technology IS significant. Which is why according to rumors, Toyota may be using it in some of its future models. Great video by the way. I like reviews coming from actual users. I hope you can also post a long-term review down the line, maybe in 3 or 5 years?

galing ung nagisip ng dmi tech kc sa halip na gamitin ang gas motor to propel the car, ginagamit nya as charger. so, kahit city drive using electric motor efficient ang takbo ng gas motor kc no need to stop and go. tuloy tuloy ang takbo ng makina kaya optimum performance sa pagcharge battery. walang nasasayang na power kc napupunta sa battery.

All EVs have their batteries installed underneath. They are sealed and waterproof. According to BYD, their blade battery is fireproof even if a puncture occurs. Thanks for watching.

My wife and have a Nissan Terra. We want to upgrade so we are thinking about buying a Sealion or Tang. Not a big fan of hybrid though. With electric though I'm worried about traveling and not being able to chage especially since the infrastructure is not their. Also would hotels and resorts let you use their electricity to charge? The hybri would be more favorable due to said reasons. We could always buy a portable electric generator that could help. I looked at PMS estimates and they are way cheaper than what it is for our Terra too.

…u ask kung matibay ang BYD? Go to Shenzhen, China, duon ginawang electric vehicle lahat ng taxi and BYD lang brand na gamit. This has been implemented by city government since 2010. I was OFW during those times in Shenzhen, China and witnessed and patronized the all electric taxi by BYD…this certainly a Pinoy proof of reliability and build quality if we are to compare this to local taxi model here in the Philippines..no wonder Ayala took the lead in selling these brand locally and aggressively

Agree with you on immediate tangible benefits of the EV car. Consider zero resale value when buying this car, bias talaga yan. Because of the innovative competition, better i-program na ibenta na after 3 to 4 years then bili na lang ng bago. Parang cellphone na lang ngayon sa bilia ng technology at dami ng car manufacturers. China ia really killing the competition.
