I love that Vegeta recognized Turles and knew about him and the tree. Like in the abridged Broly movie where he knew Bardock was a scientist. Vegeta has so much pride in his Saiyan heritage that he knows details about its people, despite that most of then died when he was still a kid. It really adds to Vegeta's character.

In the original cut when he and Goku are fighting on Earth and he creates the fake moon, he mentions how Bardock was a low level warrior but a brilliant scientist since Bardock was the one who developed the technique that allowed them to create fake moons. Creating a vital weapon like that wouldn't exactly be a footnote in Saiyin history.

If you're wondering how they got the footage for 8:36, the original movie was an adaptation of a Japan-exclusive OVA game called "Doragon Bōru Zetto Gaiden Saiya-jin Zetsumetsu Keikaku". The movie was made as a visual guide, but was remade in 2011, which is where the rest of the footage is from, of course. Fun fact: It was bundled free with Raging Blast 2!
