If Cloud had killed Aerith, it would not be blamed on him, as he would do it against his will and while being mind controlled. It is kinda vague and theories of Jenova being in control have gained ground over the years, but every time you give Jenova credit, Sephiroth loses status as a villain. Whatever remake decides to do with it, we can only wait for. Also, since the bodies actually turn to lifestream upon death (somewhat), Cloud was the one killing her >_< by drowning. So it kinda has to be taken with a grain of salt.

to play the devil's advocate: it can also be twisted to suit ones purpose or based on one's perception of the meaning. One's belief of what is good doesn't always match others. I think it's important to hear and listen to these messages, but it's also important to listen to all sides before making a decision. It's part of what made the Sephiroth fight in this so good, they took the time to listen to sephiroth spell out why he does what he does and why he thinks he's good, but ultimately is not. It's a bit of an ambiguous line, but it's perfect from Aerith's perspective as it still shows a bit of her naivety to humans.

Antfish and Lani (and whoever else did writing work) are really great at letting their characters breathe. Its something you can see develop over the course of DBZA, where they transition from slapstick to character comedy as they gained more and more confidence in their characters and the natural humor they had. This was them showing off their writing chops in a big way, still funny but letting the characters they made exist as they are, drama and all.

When cloud admitted he was scared I just started to cry, especially when he said tell me what to do. I always just did what people said and fed them whatever they wanted to hear whether it was half truths or lies. And always did what I was told, then when no one is around and I dont know what to I feel lost and sad knowing I've never done anything for myself that I really wanted to do just like a soldier following orders. It's gotten better for me but seeing that scene just hit me hard .

This video, it came out on my birthday and while I was behind, after binging the last few episodes of what I missed. I gotta say, it's a nice ending and series as a whole, on par with Dragon Ball Z Abridged and your other works. Well done Team of the Four Stars, well done.

The reason is because if you paid close attention to the dialogue in the game, they make two things very distinct & clear: 1.) the planet is very angry and upset with humanity and 2.) ultimately it would be the planet's decision to keep humanity around after holy. The final cutscene where Red XIII and his cubs leap upon the cliffs with a ruined green Midgar was purposefully left ambiguous, at least until Advent Children came out.

The first time I finished the game I really thought Aerith saved the day for completely, otherwise there wasn't any point in her appearing at the end (just after everyone already gave up hope) with the power of the lifestream (changing even the background music from catastrophic to soothing). The Red XIII scene never made me think twice because: 1) It only shows Midgar. 2) That scene happens 500 years later. Lol. If the Meteor had destroyed everything, not only humanity would have been destroyed, everything would have perished, including Red XIII.
