Looking for a video on the pros and cons of bypassing the oil injection system on a 2003 mercury EFI and converting to mixing gas. Can’t find any was hoping y’all can do one. Could anything go wrong by doing this? Will it help improve the reliability and longevity of the engine? I am about to buy a bullet with this motor and just want another opinion.

@@colebovia9472 yes! I would like to see a video or at least hear some feedback about this! I've got a 2005 Stratos were the 225 Yamaha and I've been wanting to do the same thing just out of fear that the oil injection system would go out.. but everybody I've talked to said that always keep a bag full of good spark plugs in the boat if I wanted to do that!! Idk.. would like to hear some feedback from the professionals about that situation for sure

Hands down best lithium battery is Battleborn. Built in Reno, NV. RV industry has gone to them and no problems. Glad he addressed the chargers, if you don’t have a charger that can handle lithium it won’t do the job. They charge higher than lead acid, agm, gel.

Great information. I switched from Optima Blue top AGM's to Battle Born Lithium batteries (2 - 24 volt system) and couldn't be happier. I saved a total of around 60 lbs and I never have to worry about running out of power during the day. The bonus is they are much easier to pull out of the boat when I place it into winter storage.

Have a monster marine lithium I use as a cranking and accessory battery in my duck boat. Think I’ve had it for 3 or so years now. Bought one because their company is in Arkansas which is where I live. I have loved it. Never have to charge it hardly ever. It gets beat up constantly, like I said it’s in a duck boat in arkansas. I use it to hunt, fish, sandbar ride, all sorts of stuff. My old one had an outboard so wasn’t as bad, but my new one has a mud motor. Swapped it to my new boat after I sold my edge and its taken everything I have thrown to it on this havoc mstc and runs my gatortail, 40 watt cubes on the back, southern lite rooster tail on my gatortail, southern lite gen3 light bar, Phoenix interior strip lights, lights in all my hatches, southern kite exterior strip lights, 4 8 inch speakers in my boat with an amp, probably forgetting my stuff but what it boils to is it runs a whole lot of stuff. I don’t lose power through any of it like I would with a flooded or agm. The lights are the brightest they can be and the speakers are as loud as they can be with everything on at once. I will never own another boat without one. I use their little 30 ah to run a livewell and my livescope stuff fishing. Best thing I ever did was switch my stuff on my personal boat to lithiums. Next year before summer I’m overhauling our bay boat with lithiums instead of flooded for weight savings and once again full power to everything no matter how many accessories are being used

What’s everyone’s thoughts about doing 1 (36v) or 3 (12v) system for the trolling motor? Just worried that if the 36v goes bad then your down but if you have 3 12s then at least you still could run the trolling motor even if one battery goes bad.

oh i didnt see your comment but i had the same question...
@plem7210
@plem7210 2 жыл бұрын
@@CMDAVISs The thing to compare is the amps also. My understanding is the one 36 volt battery. The monster does say 74 amps. But a lot of batterys are labeled 50 amps 36 volts. Does not have as much run time as three 100 amp lithium’s anyways. Kind of also depends on if you fish in the middle of nowhere. Say going to Canada for a week. If your one 36 volt went down. If you are close to some stores. You could quickly buy three super cheap flooded cells. Throw them in to Finish out the weeks vacation. I know 36 volt minnkotas could sort of work on 24 volt. But not really recommended compared to the force trolling motors. That can run on either. If money was not a factor. You could install two 36 volt battery’s in the boat. If one went bad. You would still have 36 volt. The only thing to check. Is not all the lithium’s can be hooked up to each other. Not sure if you could hook up two 36 volt batterys together. Might depend on brand.

Had a Relion for a starting battery with an older 2 stroke. The issue was the protection circuit disconnects the battery if it detects a voltage/current problem. Once that happened, it disconnects. That causes the voltage regular to fry (same as disconnecting a battery while the motor is running). Had to switch back to a flooded for the starter and put the lithium up front for electronics. Running 2 Solix 12's all day used 20% capacity.

I had lithiumpro batteries in my boat back a few years back. They lasted me only about 3.5 years. I tried to coordinate with LP and their “prorated” replacement was going to about 75% of new cost. I went back to traditional batteries and have no regrets. If you loose your 36V during a tournament you can’t get it replaced quickly at a local parts store. Unless you are able to have a spare 36V battery with you. I like the concept of them but the cost was / is pretty pretty steep still. Hopefully they keep improving the technology on them and bring the price down.

Soo this is exactly why my relions blew up on me- I had 2 go bad in less than a week. Relion blamed the power pole charge- charge blamed the battery. I replaced relion with powerhouse lithium which has its own app and I can see what the charge is actually doing to the battery. During charging the charge discharges the 12v lithiums to correct a non existing imbalance - creating a real imbalance and thus creating a never ending cycle of discharge while charging and NEVER allowing the batteries to get to 100%

Andy love the videos. I use bass pro lithiums (got a deal on them). They are rebadged relions and I have had great luck with them. One thing to note on safety is that these batteris are lithium-iron composition as opposed to lithium-ion you find in watches and cell phones. It is my understanding that the chemistry in these batteries are more stable but at the cost of a little capacity in comparison to lithium-ion.

Can anyone attest to getting “days” out of your lithium batteries without charging? I was told by a dealer if I pair 2-36 volt 60amp hour batteries together I could easily get 3-4 days on a single charge that would be powerhouse lithium. What brand do you use?

Looking for a video on the pros and cons of bypassing the oil injection system on a 2003 mercury EFI and converting to mixing gas. Can’t find any was hoping y’all can do one. Could anything go wrong by doing this? Will it help improve the reliability and longevity of the engine? I am about to buy a bullet with this motor and just want another opinion.

If you mean for starting. No, use agm, gel and non lithium for starting. Lithium better for deep cycle.

I just removed three Odyssey Extremes @ 78 pounds each, and added a single Monster Marine 36v, 73ah lithium. I already had the Power Pole Charge. I believe that this is the best set up possible. I run a Ghost trolling motor. Is okay to manually trip the trolling motor breaker to recharge my batteries? I’ve heard that this can weaken the breaker over time. Would it be better to add a Perko switch in series with the existing breaker as a means of disconnecting power from the trolling motor? Love your videos by the way! Send me a hat so I can represent in Utah! Thanks guys.

You can manually trip that breaker but it will weaken it over time. The quality of the breaker will determine how long it lasts.

I have been using the Dakota Lithium 36v 63 ah for my Ulterra, this year and has worked well. Purchase a few years back believing I would use it the following year, however COVID hit, for boat production and trolling motor availability. 2023 I finally have been able to use everything together and the battery for the trolling motor has been great. I saw a review on KZbin of DL 36v 60, so they must have changed the model. That review fished for 10 hours straight and mentioned he was in a fishing tournament fishing 13 hours and the battery held up with is DL and 36v trolling motor. He had estimated that he could get 15 hours on a single charge for his purposes. Power curve is long, so you get full voltage until almost to the end. You have consistent level power and longevity for each outing depending on size. Lots to consider in choices out there, some with Bluetooth now to tell you the condition of your battery, voltage, temp, capacity remaining, cool idea. Best to you should you decide on one, my battery weights about same as 1 lead acid battery instead of 3 connected together.
