Thanks for this in-depth view of lithium batteries. My AGM trolling battery is getting long in the tooth and I am just starting to investigate the new tech as it is half the weight. I may be able to run two now for more capacity.

Good stuff Brian. From how to drive the boat in big water, to battery knowledge, not enough pros doing what you do. Fishing from a boat takes more knowledge than just cast and retrieve. Thanks for providing that knowledge. ✌🏻😎🎣

Very good info you have given us. I also am considering upgrades to a lithium battery system. I wished you could expand and tell us more about the “ jump pack” that you mentioned around the seven minute mark. Seems like this needs to be an investment for the boat also. Also, I wished. I knew also about the charging systems. What kind of charger do you need to plug into to 120 volt AC at night? Does your Mercury 4 Stroke outboard charging system charge the batteries while your riding down the lake? Thanks Brian for the information. Your the best.

... I have been considering for a long time changing over and have been heavily researching lithium's for days now before I make my final decision. My 3 wet cell TM batteries need replacing as of last week so I am past the "considering" stage now. Just want to be sure I choose the correct 36v single battery on size, weight, charger and price. . .. If I may, and anyone please correct me if I have something incorrect. ... "jump pack" ... - Search NOCO or Hulkman jump packs for 12V batteries. I used to be concerned about having a dead/low starting battery until I bought the Hulkman 8.5. It does more than be a safety net for my Triton's 240 LTS starting battery. It has jumped my Ford van, 5.8L with e 100% dead battery a couple of times when I left the interior 8 lights on overnight. They also can charge anything that uses a USB port like phones, GoPro's, etc. Also has a multi selection for emergency lights. ... Charging ... Most if not all Lithium manufactures sell their own specific chargers. On board or stand alone (portable) so you just plug them in after a days outing. Some on board chargers (more $$) are capable of charging the Lithiums while the outboard is running. . The Power Pole system ($2000.00) will do that also. . Keep in mind, with 2 or 3 batteries in series, manufactures will mention that the batteries needs to be, "balanced." That is all to be at the same charge level all the time. A single 24v or 36v automatically does that itself. . . Jeff .

I carry one of the Noco jump packs in my vehicles all the time. They are much more handy than a set of jumper cables. The Noco packs that I have also have other safety features that we may not think about having accessibly to like a flashlight as another flashlight is always a good idea. Lastly and one of my favorite features is that I am able to use it to charge a cell phone, laptop or anything with a type C USB. All of those features and it takes up less space than a set of jumper cables. No brainer!

I have x2 Ionic lithium trolling batteries & x1 Ionic starting battery. I absolutely love my lonic batteries! I removed 160lbs. of weight in my boat by replacing x3 AGM batteries w/ x3 lithiums. Plus, I have an App that shows the condition of the batteries. The x3 Ionics with trays & Ionic charger cost me almost $2000.00 but they're worth every penny!

Marine lithium batteries should be waterproof (IP67/66/65) and sealed so water doesn't get inside of them.
@BrianLatimerFishing

They are. I would still remove as much moisture as possible from the stern. During the charging process the batteries create heat which causes condensation. The dryer you are the better off you’ll be.

@240LTS

... If I may, ... ... @ stroke or 4 stroke, it does not matter. When in series, like for a trolling motor, do not mix batteries, They should all be the same. I plan to change 3 wet cell 12V group 27 batteries to a single 36v TM battery and keep my AGM Starting and House batteries because they are working great. . Jeff .

Hmmm, So, your 36V miller 100Ah batteries in series cost $825 each x 3 = $2475, and they weigh 32 lbs each for total 96 lbs. In comparison; as an example... you could have gotten a 36V, 99Ah single battery, weighs 39 lbs, and cost $1700 AND has Bluetooth from Seaquestbattery. What am i missing ? ... oh, ok, this is a paid adv. video, sorry to horn in.
@BrianLatimerFishing
@BrianLatimerFishing Жыл бұрын
Why would you trust one battery to something as important as your trolling motors is what you’re missing. So if you did it your way you’d need 2 - 1700$ batteries which is 3400.

@@BrianLatimerFishing well, first thing, its never a good idea to put lithium batteries in series. It's 3 things to go wrong. BMS's dont work well in series and it really screws up the charging. 2 batteries in parallel would be 200Ah, doubling the cost.

AGM only 50% capacity should be used without harming the battery and lithium you can utilize 100%. So if you have a 100ah battery, capacity = 100ah lithium and 50ah AGM.
