@@X340n bullshit, there were some studies on that, they tested a bunch of world class drivers, and after a bunch of learning the course, they were able to get *close* to the abs braking distance, that was on even, smooth surface with even grip mind you. No person can exceed the ability to modulate the brakes of a computer, which probes several times a second and reacts immediately, also being able to change braking force on all wheels individually, the fastest realistic reaction time of a person is around 250-300ms.

I remember watching the evening news in Sweden as a kid. It was during the Swedish rally and some well known international Rally driver had crashed and was injured. There was this clip when the ambulance was going to the accident scene. A Volvo 960 Ambulance (rwd, straight six, automatic. Google it) was just drifting past the camera crew sideways around a bend with blue lights flashing, just disappearing into a cloud of white smoke continuing it's journey. It was quite surreal to see, a fridge like car doing rally speeds driven by a paramedic, when an international rally driver had crashed in his souped up 4wd rally car. So yes you CAN rally anything.

Literally had a 2011 Dodge Charger retired hwp car and it was very fun, came with better suspension and a stage 1 chip. Easily roasts tires, my problem with this car, it’s so damn heavy that it feels like a boat in water. The other part is 8 mpg in the city, I’d get up to 40 on the highway but could never get more than 10 in the city. Their also were sensors starting to go out around 100k miles and the transmission was replaced at 80k miles and at 120k it was already breaking again. I wouldn’t suggest this car to anyone unless you have money. The transmissions are pretty pricey when I was looking at them, they wanted 7k but I got the car for 10k. Sold the car bought a brand new Subaru and even though I’ve got literally 1/3 of the power in my Subaru Impreza I’ve had way more fun with it.

@@lego4virgo The car above is a 5.7 V8 , see 1.12 in the video. There was a Charger 5.7 V8 R/T AWD model through the 2014 model year. The current model year (2019} Charger GT is V6 powered.

remember car and driver ,tested a std sedan which is 300 lbs lighter and runs different wheels and gears in the diff and transmission, that is why it is faster, they also fudge the numbers a bit like all magazines, these chargers are better than the ford or gm equivalent

@@99unclebob they tested many Charger Pursuits, most giving similar results. The Michigan State Police do yearly evaluations, and their numbers are very similar to Car and Driver's. Please provide proof of your amusing claims.

The 8 speed is your close ratio solution to the shortcomings of the 5 speed. Was a game changer for all FCA vehicles that got it. Nice video.

The 2020 Pursuits do finally get the 8-speeds, but the A580 is an excellent transmission.

P Kranz Yea A580 is a pretty decent trans with good strength. The 8HP are awesome though. Didn’t realize it took so long for the pursuit models to get the 8 speed. They’ve been in the chargers for like 6-7 years.

FYI lots of police spec vehicles put the shifter on the column because the center console will typically be used for radios, light and radar controls, laptop mount, etc.

They put the shiftier on the column in police cars so that upfitters can put siren controllers and radios in the center console. It also helps get it out of the way of certain laptop mounts. You see that in most police option packages.

On most Chargers, you can simply drive at 15+ MPH and turn the key (or press the starter button) like you are trying to start the engine. The starter will NOT engage, but it will disable the ABS and ESP. They will reengage after shutting down the engine and restarting, but having them off allows you to hang the tail out much better and modulate the brakes as best suits the conditions. And no pulling the ABS fuse.
