As someone said what you experienced is going on 50 other stadiums across the country on the same day. Largest stadiums in the world #3 through #10 are all college football stadiums. Only one in India and one in North Korea are larger. 8 college stadiums are 100k plus, next 8 are 80k to 92k, and then 7 more are 70-80k. Then there are a ton in the 40-60k range. Edit: I’m thinking the list is missing a stadium in Mexico City being larger. However the largest crowd to see a football game was when Bristol Motor Speedway was transformed in a football stadium for Virginia Tech vs Tennessee with 156,000+ on hand for the game.

We Americans get stereotyped over food and guns and whatnot, which is completely fair and we embrace that stuff. But honestly America's stereotype should be about being obsessed with sport, with competition in general. Doesn't matter if it's football, that weird curling thing in the Olympics, esports, chess or checkers... Whatever it is, so much of our culture is built on competition. Americans love to compete, win or lose competition is great, but we do really love a winner.

The memorial you mentioned out front is actually dedicated the the soldiers of all wars (originally WW1 in 1924), that's why it is named DKR Texas Memorial Stadium "The stadium was originally dedicated on Thanksgiving Day in 1924, after the UT student body decided to name the stadium in honor of the 198,520 Texans who fought in World War I and the 5,280 who lost their lives doing so. In 1977, the stadium was rededicated to veterans of all wars."

Absolutely smashed that like button. Didn't expect much at all from this but I really enjoyed it. I'm an Aussie, from Sydney and I first got into American Football in 1970s! Just saw it on tv one time as a kid and I was hooked on the razzamatazz! Pure enjoyment to the max. I then got to actually play for the Sydney University Lions, and we had an American exchange student who showed me College Football and I was even more hooked! We used to go over to his place in Bondi on Friday nights and make chilli dogs and drink Coors and watch on tv lol.
@DemaenetusАй бұрын
@aldunlop4622, it’s become very common to see Aussie punters on college football teams. I assume they were originally Australian rules football players, big dudes who can kick the hell out of a football. Before Aussie punters became so common here you never saw punters that big. My theory is that American punters are relatively small because the biggest and strongest kids on high school teams are selected to play other positions. BTW, I love me some Aussie rules football!
@aldunlop4622Ай бұрын
@@Demaenetus Yeah, most of those kickers are from AFL which is the most popular sport in Victoria (Melbourne), South Australia and Western Australia. I'm from Sydney and I hate it! The most popular football in New South Wales (Sydney) and Queensland is NRL - National Rugby League, which is similar to Rugby, so the players are more like NFL players (not kickers). Quite a few have gone to states to play as linemen. Jared Hayne played a couple of pre-season games for the 49ers as a running back but was dropped after he dropped a couple of kick returns, which I thought was unfair as he did actually run a few good returns. I think because of social media there's a lot more American interest or knowledge in Australia. It's niche, but I think if the NFL pumps some money in as they are doing, it may develop more of a following, although not on the same level as AFL or NRL.

Awesome video! The way that I had my first realization of just how extra we are as Americans by watching this video had me laughing so hard. But I absolutely love it seems like you had an amazing time and I’m so happy.

I went to UTAustin for my undergrad in Econ and Masters in Public Accounting. It was the best time of my life. So many great minds and a strong Alumni base. Hook ‘Em Horns!

It's so fun to see how much you guys are loving America. I don't know about other folks, but it definitely makes me appreciate our (sometimes wild) benefits a little more haha. (PS: we need to get jets over the next crossfit games!)

And you get an epic flyover? So cool. Goosebumps and teary eyes are appropriate.

In the Southern US, college football is king. It’s a total party atmosphere. Going to a professional game is a different atmosphere. The tailgating? Yes. The band, not so much. The cheerleaders? Why? I don’t want to diminish what they do but in high school or college, the fan section will cheer along. I’m glad you had a great experience!

Not only did you get a football game at a big school, you also got a B-1 Lancer flyover! So cool! Glad y’all got to have an amazing experience!

You should go to a high school game also. Even for teenagers it can pull a crowd of over 1000 and there are a lot of big name high schools in the Austin area.

This is Texas first year in the South East Conference which over the past two decades has arguably been the toughest conference in the country. Texas just got a taste by loosing to Georgia as to what is ahead in the SEC. Glad you guys enjoyed yourselves. American college football is a great and endearing tradition.

Then they got the truest SEC experience: Losing the conference championship to the only team to beat you in the regular season. Already popped their cherries in Austin.

You truly experienced SEC football at it's finest. Ever since TAM entered the SEC in 2013 (I was against that at first as I am I life long UGA fan) they have been quite fun to watch and their fans are some of the most gracious SEC fans. They really set the bar high with their tailgating to be sure. A new Team Richey fan is born today! Good luck with all your adventures and stay safe!

100% agree. The best SEC teams and fanbases come from the Big 12. Long live TAMU and Texas-Austin.

@@rfewresmogaj No, no, no sadly TAMU and Texas are not the best teams in the SEC by a long shot but ya'll are fun to whoop up on! But I am correct on the fan base be gracious and fun to hang with. 😆😁😎 UGA all the way! We aims to bring that trophy back to The SEC were it belongs!

LSU a night game is off the chain.!! Alabama day or night is AWESOME.!! UGA at night time is cool.!! South Carolina day or night is also AWESOME.!! Ole Miss is a cool tail gate gathering with food mostly they lose but still cool place 👍 😮😅😮😅
