The great Canadian disease is the expectations of real estate hyper inflation. There are so many people that don’t buy a home but buy a potential increase in real estate prices. Sad mentality.

Most rich people stay rich by spending like the poor and investing without stopping then most poor people stay poor by spending like the rich yet not investing like the rich but impressing them. People prefer to spend money on liabilities, Rather than investing in assets and be very profitable

Because of the Hugh price run up in the last 10 years, people now look at a house as an investment rather than a home to live in to raise the family. The same reason for buying as big a house you can (or cannot) afford and get the biggest mortgage possible even if you have to lie about your finances. Sad part is that some have got away with this for many years, until now.

High tariff = high unemployment. High unemployment = real estate crash. Take a look at 1989 Canadian housing crash. It is so strange that it seems like nobody remembers that crash. Yet it was not that long ago. I was a high school student, and I saw my cousin who bought a house and had declared bankruptcy afterwards. Ask around about it.

What that means is Canada is lacking opportunities, people can’t start business because of over regulation taxes and bureaucracy . Real state is the main business still in Canada that’s why still not affordable for families who needs it .

I think the issue is that house prices are so high now that every transaction will get hyper analyzed as one conducts their due diligence. This is further compounded by the fact that so much information is readily available at your finger tips, which is also constantly updating/changing. This can easily lead to paralysis by analysis.

No Canadian Detached home is worth more than $800k Even that figure is Hyped and False..Quality & Workmanship is not even worth $500k... BUYERS DON'T BUY!

I agree. new houses are made out of matchsticks. Life-long debt and people trading houses but no real production going on. We need productivity, not real estate trading. That's why china crashed their own market . They didn't want their economy to be reliant on real estate and more of a high-tech manufacturing hub. That's what we need to do.

People are missing whats coming. AI is going to decimate entry level knowledge worker jobs in the next 3-4 years. Thats a huge chunk of employment in Canada, and they typically make 70k-100k. Imagine what happens when you take a high percentage of those jobs out of the market and thus eliminate that buying power. AI and tech is deflationary and you're going to see that play out in housing very soon.

Agents keep taking over priced listings and sellers are hiring, friends or family members with a real estate license to list there properties which makes no sense.
