Lesson 4: Airplane Systems
During this lesson we will discuss aircraft systems and construction, (fuselage, empennage, wings, primary and secondary flight controls etc.) We will also go into these same details for complex and high-performance aircraft. As you are aware, one component of complex aircraft, is the retractable landing gear feature. We will spend some time going into detail on how the landing gear and brake systems function.
You will observe Scott asking this question: “During a cross wind landing, which tire will make contact with the runway first"? Please comment if you have the answer. If you are not sure, please continue to watch and pay close attention to the video.
The second part of this video will focus on the aircraft engine, also known as the powerplant. Scott will explain the basics of internal combustion engines, as well as their parts, features, and performance. Lastly, he will go into detail on the propeller, and how engine power is applied to create rotation. Please feel free to field your questions or thoughts and post them in the comments section.
Enjoy learning in private pilot ground school and subscribe our channel.

Oleo is an old name for butter, or at least according to my late grandmother -in- law. I just had the silliest visual of that strut slathered in butter, guaranteeing that this is one name that I will never forget.

On a crosswind landing we want the upwind tire to land first, so we use our ailerons to gradually bring that tire down first, then allow gravity to bring the other tire down.

I fail to see the connection between the wing falling off and airplane complexity. Seems that was a maintenance problem no?

I think the instructor just remembered the story and decided to tell it. I also don't see a connection, but it was interesting.

Being a pilot does, in my opinion, mean already having some of the 'right stuff'. Some of THAT includes not over-reacting, and kind of going with the flow. In my opinion, if the seat were to suddenly release to back of the track, you dont have the right stuff if you KEEP grabbing the yoke and caused a nose-up stall. You should do whatever it took to keep or recover the yoke into a good position until you have the seat re-adjusted.

How many people are watching this for MSFS (Microsoft Flight Simulator) because they cannot actually afford real flight school? ✋

Only $350 per hour. Lol, yeah pretty steep. I had to wait for an inheritance to even think about flight training

It's really more affordable than you may think. I use flight training finance, and it only runs $360 a month to finance the entire PP course. There are other options out there. You just have to do your research. At 43 years old, I wish I had this information 25 years ago. Remember, there's ALWAYS a way!!! Best of luck😉
