The first major for mk9 this game had only been out a few weeks when this happened. There was controversy at the time with Tom Brady winning since he was a tester for NRS . It's fun to watch this before so much was discovered this vanilla Johnny Cage before the f3 frame trap was discovered and this basic Lao before the 2,4 low hat frame trap and even an entire year before bird lao was discovered. Just imagine how busted this day one Lao was all that untapped potential, 2 , 4 low hat , teleport early 3 frame trap instant dive kicks, 1,1,2,1 being 0 on block leading to multiple frame traps.... A truly deadly and super broken busted OP character and nobody knew it yet .

Noob Saibot is actually a pretty easy character to use. If you know his B1 2 1 4, you're pretty much golden. Using that combo, you can perform resets (with the Black Hole), numerous corner juggles (with his Up-Shadow), and even perform some pretty sweet X-Ray combos (for some flash B) ). Combining this with correct spacing using Shadow Clones, you're good to go. The game wasn't even a month old during this, but even still, Tom was able to use Noob's spacing to his advantage. Pretty sick.

One of the things I love about these matches, is that, unlike a lot of prior speculation, X-Ray moves aren't really causing too much immediate turnaround in a match, like was expected. It DOES happen, of course. (They're insanely damaging, after all.) However, I've seen more skill-based turnarounds than actual X-Ray spam. This is some great shit, guys.

I don't understand how people think that spamming is unfair/lame. Noob is a zoning character for a reason, to be able to zone someone away from him and punish from far away. Like what the commentators say, he has great space control. Most fighting games have their own archetypes of characters with some using the same moves as the base of their strategy and gameplay. What makes zoning different from spamming is that spamming is repeating the same move without any tactics or adapting to the situation while zoning is arranging the game in such a way that the opponent must play a certain way (in this case he played the keep away game and when the opponent was punishable he teleported to him and command grabbed which shows signs of adapting) . So even though you might think it's "lame" =)) it is its own strategy and deserves recognition.

@DSN107 ehh you have a point, but if there is anything i noticed about Kung Lao its that he's mostly speed and doesnt have as powerful attacks as, say, Cyrax, Jax or Sheeva. honestly it seems as though you can beat him if you block when you need to, out maneuvar him (perhaps with speedy characters like Liu Kang, Johnny Cage or Kabal) and corner him when you get the chance and try your best NOT to get cornered by him. sometimes it helps to study characters by watching Gameplay :-)
