I hope they can include missing vehicles and teams from this year's game (like the Iveco and Mercedes trucks, Sherco, Speedbrain, other utvs and quads manufacturers, the coronel bros, Rastrojero, Borgward, Ford, Ssangyong, Nissan and many more) in the next year's game. And maybe a feature to create your own team and race it against the other dakar competitors (and maybe sharing your custom livery too). I said manufacturers because they only include Polaris UTVs and Yamaha quads in the game. No sights of Can-Am and Honda quads, and neither the Can-Am and Yamaha UTVs are present. And maybe more classic vehicles, like Hubert Auriol's BMW, Orioli's Cagiva, Schlesser Original, the first winning Pajero and more of them. (well I'd want a Porsche 959 too, but that might be tough with the license cost) Other than that, this looks mega for a debut game of a series about rally raids that put LOTS of vehicle in the game by a non AAA team. The only other Dakar related game I played was Dakar 2 by Acclaim in around 2003. It's pretty much arcadey but also fun.

Couple of questions to Team VVV. When you talk to the developers again, can we Free Roam in this game or is it just doing/following different Rally type stages? When you reach the Waypoint or end of the Rally stage can we keep driving or does it quit doing driving?

We haven't seen enough, but the maps are vast. Stages could take hours. A race could be 3300km long.

100% no vr no buy vr should be standard for racing Sims all the rest on pc have vr support and everyone who sim races knows how much it adds to the users experience so to leave it out is a massive no no and shows that the devs don't care about the sim racers experience especially with new and better HMDS coming out now I am not saying that it won't be good but as a pc sim racing title it will be letting down the community as most have moved over to vr and are hoping for a vr standard for our hobby

It sounds awesome! Yeah the development for the graphics and controlling will be updated as it needs to be I think but everything sounds awesome. Specially the map size and how to navigate, getting out to tow friends is amazing.

Can't you use the GPS to find your position if you get lost? I think that's in the rules.

Possibly, given the depth of the simulation, we needed more time to get into the navigation. It's all very in-depth. Also knowing where to go and the best way to get there are two different things when conserving your vehicle.

I checked the rules and this is what it says: "For safety reasons, the Rider has the possibility of unblocking the GPS by inputting a specific code. This code, given by the PCO at the request of the Rider via the Iritrack, activates the usual functions of a GPS and makes all the WayPoints visible. All use of this code will result in the following penalties: -from the 1st to the 3rd utilisation: 6 hours per utilisation for the first 15 in the General Classification and A.S.O. Elite Riders, 3 hours for other Riders. -the 4th utilisation will result in Disqualification for all Riders." (the exact time penalties change according to the type of vehicle) They could implement this system, adjusting the penalties to values that make sense for the game and the difficulty chosen. I also found out that they changed the rules this year to ban every kind of map, allowing only the use of pacenotes to guarantee that more competitors get lost: www.autosport.com/dakar/news/133776/peugeot-dakar-map-change-unsportsmanlike Now that is some bullshit that I could do without.

Yes, hence we'll be using the Rookie mode, but there are harder modes and you can have the full professional mode when you better understand the symbols and environments.

The graphics don't need to be state of the art but the navigation needs to be. It like driving from the north of France to the south of France on the National road with a broken GPS. You never arrive in time. Fingers crossed this hughe effort will have good reviews.

Its a very nice concept, i allways wondered why developers never did the real Paris - Dakar remake in video-game, i guess it was for technical reasons, but it would be an amazing adventure to play such distances and using maps and navigation techniques, which was the basis of such competition combined with resistance for motors etc etc, obviously this is not an AAA game, don't expect this top be a top knoch game, but the idea and concept is really interesting.

I was informed there is an in-game save. The wheel experience make you feel more involved. Personally I don't notice much difference in being tiring, that might depend on your ffb levels.

I feel like buying it just to support the devs, and 'ambitious' that's an understatement if I ever heard one. I do have a few basic 'needs' so-to-speak when it comes to racing games. 1. If FFB wheel support must have in-car, preferably with hands and wheel hidden. If clicker only support then just in-car. 2. If FFB wheel - FOV and seat adjustment. 3. PC no FPS caps and a minimum of 60fps and Ultra Wide Monitor or multiple monitor support. Telemetry for add-on devices would be welcomed. My mummy says I'm needy. Pah what does she know.

We are clear with publishers and developers that nothing influences our content, you can fly me round the world and I'll say it as i see it. Hence many games companies stopped giving us access. Ride on the Edge got 7 that was justified in our review, that matched the rounded up meta score and with the user score, only the positive commentators supported their score. Our review doesn't take into account post release support. Dakar '18 will get the same treatment as everything else.

This game resembles a lot like FUEL of Codemasters, except FUEL has compass while this one has list of directions ... and can get out of the car. I enjoy FUEL a lot so I will most likely enjoy this too
