Bruce , how did you find this bike on handling and power in comparison to to a Gen2 Superduke, ?
@teapotone2 жыл бұрын
Superduke will win hands down all the time for me. It’s a hooligan with beautiful handling - the BMW has the refined boxer engine which whilst it has lots of grunt, it can’t compete with the KTM for sheer grin-factor. The BMW is a great bike though, handling is beautiful, lots of power, and it’s a BMW so the dealer network and customer service will be far superior on the whole. I’d get the BMW over a Gen 2 SD R, but the new Gen 3 SD R would win hands down.
@biketorquewales2 жыл бұрын
@@teapotone thanks Bruce , you’ve just confirmed my own thoughts , KTM is a wheelie hooligan machine but the Beamer is a more refined ballistic tourer with a far superior dealer network than any other manufacturer, if I’ve missed anything let me know please buddy, ps loving the channel and reviews 😀

@teapotone5 жыл бұрын
Depends. If you do any off-roading then no. If you ride in all weathers and like the protection the GS offers, then no. If you like the practicality of the GS where you can just chuck some panniers and/or top box on it, strap some kit on the back and hit the road to travel for days or weeks at a time in fair comfort, then no. But.... if you like to really ride tarmac roads, aren’t too bothered about weather protection, and are happy to strap some luggage to the bike and maybe wear a rucksack, then absolutely. It’s a joy to ride, especially in the twisties, and will put a real smile on your face. However, I got back on my GS and instantly felt more at home.

Aha!! The Insta360 One X makes its debut. I’ve been loving mine - makes missing things a thing of the past. From experience, don’t use the HDR mode in video on a moving bike. It’s great when the One X is static, or nearly so, but it makes a right hash of it when there’s linear movement of the camera at anything above walking speed (and I mean old man fat lad walking speed). 5.7K brought into a 1080p timeline and using the FOV angle with keyframes makes for lovely stuff. Looking forward to seeing how it fits in with your stuff, Bruce - it’s now a go-to camera for my channel and videos...

Hard to believe the wheelbase and seat height is virtually same as the RT. just the fairing that makes it look bigger.

Superb! 360 a keeper, just thinking if you could get a bracket to mount it rather than holding it . I am originally from Wales but now live in Belfast, get yourself over on the ferry from Pembroke to Rosslare and experience the delights of Ireland.

Footage from the new toy looks amazing, even at the lower res. The R1250R didn't appear ridiculously undersized for you though. Certainly seems you've got a nice area for riding there, the scenery is a remarkable contrast to my local environment here in South Oz (what's all that green stuff, and what's wrong with the Sun?).

22:14 Harlech Castle where the good Men Of Harlech hailed from, made famous in the Zulu film. Another sensational video mate - you're editing is spot on! 360 camera is cool too! I have a 2016 Speed Triple R which I would happily throw you the keys to. I am in Australia, but that's a genuine offer!

I've had a ride on a base model R1250R with a lot of toys but no sport dash and I just loved it, same torque as my SuperDuke GT but at lower revs made it feel faster, it feels better put together than the KTM too... Much thinking to do as they talked me in to testing the S1000R next week, they have some offers on that at the moment. Love the video and scenery, makes me want to go on a solo tour of Wales.

@SteveInskip5 жыл бұрын
Just as a matter of interest, do BMW give the torque/power at the rear wheel coz you’ll lose quite a lot on the shaft drive compared to say a chain drive Aprilia. Bevel gears can be quite inefficient.
@teapotone5 жыл бұрын
I’m it’s at the crank, unless stated otherwise I believe. GS (1200’s) are claimed to have 125bhp but they’re usually around the 90bhp mark at the rear wheel 👍
