Thank you for the content. I have a BaByliss Type 617K. With your Video I was able to repair broken power cord.

Oddly enough... I've torn down a few hairdryers.. Even a brushless one.... Took the 'EDF' fan out and tried to use it for a glider... Failed... Too heavy. Top vid fella

I was looking for a DC motor for my boat so I was disappointed 😕

It may be too heavy for a glider, but good to build a playset for mini/micro/nano quadcopters. Please take a look at my 'ible' of K/\asteroid on Instructables website.

Can you do this for shark?
@GrandadIsAnOldMan9 ай бұрын
Do what for shark? If you mean take apart a specific model of a specific brand, that would only happen if I was given one and I only accept gifts from family and friends.

That looks very similar to the ETI turbodryer which you can still buy

I can't claim to be very knowledgeable about hair dryers. My only interest was to see what was inside. Hoping for a handy DC motor.

I wish I had that double toggle switch to repair my hairdryer.

Don't throw it out sell it on eBay or give it to charity
@GrandadIsAnOldMan2 жыл бұрын
I generally buy them from charity shops to strip the motors out for my RC toys. This one surprised me because it didn't have a normal DC motor. Absolutely no way I would donate that to a charity shop after a destructive tear down like that. No way that would be safe and the cord was degrading, so it would need replacing.

This was a tear down to salvage anything worth keeping before scrapping it. This is not a repair.

As I understand it these are refered to as a Universal motor kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZoGng32Br5Kgp6c however I have been unsuccessful trying to run it from a battery supply. I did have some success just about 3 years ago in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/b3SxloGkq6iefq8 Of course it could be this one needs some maintenance as it seems fairly stiff to turn but I have tried lubricating the bearings with no improvement. It certainly is not what I was hoping to find. I have had several very handy powerful "normal" DC motors from hairdryers where they use the heater element to drop the voltage and a diode bridge to rectify the AC.
