I found the screw that I didn't know was there. It was hidden as seen in your video. It worked! The cover came right off and I can get to work! Thank you. L

Yes, I know, it's been 3 years... Thank you so much, for this !! I still have this Laptop, the Dell Inspiron N7010, and it is finally having some troubles... I may have to just let it go. and get a new one with at least Windows 10... My Windows Outlook email stopped working in 2022, so I am not surprised, since it is still at Windows 7... Thanks again for an absolutely great video!! I know, it's a lot of work to film, add things, edit, and then somehow, load all this file up on your channel... You are the BEST !!!!

@@Mohamed-_-GG27 PC comes on and I can access the bios but has a Hdd password That I just cannot seem to get past, so I am looking for any suggestions available? Other than that I am probably just going to wipe the hard drive and reinstall windows 7…Any suggestions? I have this effects model in video

I thought I'd have to take the monitor off because i can't open the cover the way you did, but I saw you remove a screw from someplace I didn't see. I'll look for it when I get home. The reason why I tried to take this computer apart in the first place is because, after buying a new AC adapter and battery, I'm still having problems with the computer even recognizing that a battery is in the computer. I get the flashing orange lights and one white light continuously. Also, the computer would turn itself off unexpectedly sometimes. Sometimes, it comes on effortlessly and then I'd get the Windows blue screen of death. Do you have any ideas about that? The solid state hard drive is fine. I tested it on another machine. Imo replace the CMOS battery next. Then, I'll be sure the fan is clean when I do get it open. I have new RAM chips on order, as well. Anyway, thank you for this video. It's nice to find EXACTLY WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR on KZbin! L

Watched your video, nicely done, yeah the screws are insane and guess what even after watching the video I muscled the palm pad and broke all the stubs, still kicking myself. A new palm board is on the way. I have two questions; re: the N7010 1) how do I reconnect the antenna, it's just not making sense to me and 2) is this computer upgradable to 16, 32 gbs and if so what do I need to do? Appreciate the videos, nicely done.

1. How to you reattach the antenna wires at what end? To the Wifi Card or inside the LCD Assembly? If your talking about to the Wifi Card, you simply put them over the snap, and press. It can be very tricky but its a simple snap. Once they are touching correctly, they will snap in when you push. 2. I think the N7010 are maxed out at 8GB unfortunately :( You can try installing more but I dont think the computer will be able to access it :(

Hi. Good lessons. Please see, correction found practically by me, in order to lift(disassemble) the palm-rest(uppermost cover of the laptop) safely within the model Dell Inspiron 17R N7010 only 2 palmrest cables(buses)(leftmost and bottom-most if facing to laptops display) and 1 keyboard cable(bus) among 6 are sufficient to remove(disconnect) from the motherboard connectors, because the rest 3 cables(buses) are not connected to palmrest nor to the keyboard and practically have pictures of it.

I have this laptop since 2011 and still using it at home. It works ok, except the brightness of a screen is not so high, I think its around a 2/3 or 1/2 as when it was new. So what should I replace for a brighter screen? Maybe a display backlight lamp? There is 1 or 2 lamps? Where can I order a new lamps? Thank you

Greetings, and thanks for the video. It appears the speakers on my beloved old N7010 have gone bad. From the video, it appears that it should be possible to remove and replace the speakers without removing the motherboard (which I'd rather not try to do); is this possible, or am I missing something? Thanks again.

Yes. On most computers, you should be able to remove the speakers without removing the motherboard !!

I have N7010 and it will not run the internal diagnostics F12. It starts but the laptop shut off in the middle of the memory phase. Replaced 6gb memory with a single 4gb stick and reran the diagnostics. This time the memory portion completed a few steps later the laptop shut off again. Could it be the CPU or motherboard?

Great video. Is it worth going through all the trouble of disassembling the palm rest and taking off the motherboard to replace the thermal paste? It's more the risk of breaking something that concerns me. I'll be doing a RAM and SSD replacement for sure, and those look a heck of a lot easier. It's my mother's computer, and it's at least 10 years old but doesn't get much use.

You are correct. A RAM and SSD upgrade are a lot easier for a non-experienced operation. A CPU operation can be more risky and if it makes you uncomfortable, you may want to avoid it. However, if you go slow and take care to not damage anything, all computer hardware operations are very doable :)

Does CMOS Battery also keep date and time when unplugged? Each time I unplug my N7010 from AC Current I lose Date and Time, Even though I have a normal health laptop battery. Or, what else could it be? Thanks much. Great Video.

Yes, if your Date / Time settings are constantly wrong, that is most likely due to a failing CMOS Battery. Replace it.

Took laptop complete apart and still can’t get past Hdd password which is on bios. I can aces bios just can’t removehdd password ,I disconnected everything and tried to jump password was unsuccessfull.. need Help any suggestions… I have this exact model purchased from second hand store a week ago

Jumping the password is a risky operation that, if done incorrectly, can damage the motherboard. At this time, I dont advise how to do that on this channel. Sry :(

i stopped disassembling at removing the keyboard, something was still holding it down and wouldnt prop out. S C R E W this laptop
