@@CryptoGuide So I now bought a Mini, I am curious why you believe the Titan has not received any of the software and/or hardware updates like security chipset? Did you do a tear down on a Titan? Just another curious aussie!

Just to share out of all the youtube video's on the mini your videos were the ones that made me park my Ledger Nano X and invest in the Mini as the main cold wallet. Basically the Titan is like the original Ellipal in that it's just a cut down Android phone and lacked the specialist hardware found in the mini. (So this wasn't something that could be fixed in software) There is a good writeup on the original Ellipal device here blog.ledger.com/Ellipal-Security/ (pre-dating the Titan) While most of this stuff was addressed with the Titan, the overall architecture remained unchanged. (And only changed with the Mini)

Could you please do a video showing if the seed phrase recovery works on this wallet? If your old wallet gets destroyed or lost . I just don't understand how something that is never connected to the internet could be used to retrieve lost coins if destroyed . Thank you

It does, you just import the seed and it's good to go. Just watch my video on why recieve addresses change and it explains the concept behind it.

Do you if you are supposed to replace batteries on these items if the battery fully dies?

Basically once the battery dies then you need a new device. (A fully failed battery will likely also trigger the anti tamper protection and render the device useless)

Thanks for your amazing video, you were lucky the battery cell isolation functionned as intended an did not set on fire the whole device 😅 ... Any chance you do the same video for the ellipal titan v1 ec2 ?

Yea I was opening it up in an outdoor, non flammable space, so was fully prepared for the whole thing to shoot flames out. In terms of the other devices, Ledger did a teardown of older Ellipal, so there isn't much to see there.

Yeah I saw that Ledger analysis on the initial Ellipal device, was wondering whats inside the ec02 v1 as no one opened it... I will open mine if it die 😂

The ec02 was still just a custom Android device, so the difference between EC01 and EC02 is t really interesting, but cutting one open can still be fun :)

Safepal S1 is inferior in a number of ways. (I have one and it's too crap to have warranted a video) Build quality is poor, communication is totally opaque and closed.

Great experiment 👍 Some software wallets (Hot Wallet) now feature passphrase (12 + 1), multisig or 2FA, or all together. Like Unstoppable, Green, AirGap vault ... Do you think these are safe & secure?

The addition of a BIP39 passphrase doesn't boost the security of a software wallet, only add a layer of protection to your backups. Something like Multisig with software wallets is a different story, providing that the signers are all different devices, can be more secure. (Though can be messy to back up and not as good as a stateful hardware wallet that stores the info of all the signers) 2fa is a mixed bag and varies dramatically in security depending on the specific implementation...

What will happen to the Ellipal device when the internal battery is dead (after many years) ?

Basically it will only run when connected to a charger at all times. (And isn't user replaceable)
