Nice teardown and tutorial on opening the case. Lol with the cameo of that heritage grade Milwaukee drill, looked like it was built like a Sherman tank.

Great tear down and review. I've loved all my Milwaukee tools for years now and I have no desire to own any others after watching all the reviews and comparisons on KZbin. Even for just a "do-it-yourselfer" like me , it's just the best bang for your buck!

Yeah I'm just getting into them. Owned Ryobi for years but there are things Mil outputs that Ryobi will never as it lives in Milwaukees shadow. Good sumpliment thought to have Ryobi for the cheap stuff I don't use often and Milwaukee for the high performance stuff I do use more often and need the performance.

Awesome video .. as an industrial electrician I love your videos .. use most of the drills you tear down . As far as the ground , all 3 phase motors have a ground , and looks like they brought it to the thickest metal available

Is it feasible to swap out the 1/4 collet for a 3/8 anvil from perhaps the 2454-20? The 2553 is much cheaper on the used market than any of milwaukees 12v impact wrenches.

Hahaha! The antique Milwaukee! I have a pnuematic screw gun from the 50s made for aircraft work. It looks almost as cumbersome but is quite a bit smaller. It has no clutch at all, great for stripping out screw heads. Edit: I highly recommend Bel Ray waterproof grease for things like this. It is synthetic and I have never seen it get hard or separate before.

@@Kevin-mp5of I use that a lot myself. Molybedenum disulfate grease mixed with motor oil is specified by Cessna Aircraft and BMW motorcycles for cables and splines. It is also a great assembly lube for engines.

I like mine a koit - except for the M12 battery system is sometimes fussy to release. My big issue is the impact mechanism does not hold up to my use. I had one start slipping under warranty, this other one just started slipping but out of warranty.. I think it's the whole gear assembly needs to be replaced. Same cost as drill. But will disassemble to see if it's the hammer or anvil.

Can the plastic "push button trigger" portion of the switch be removed from the rest of the switch assembly on this model? Thanks

A really nice impact. The only draw back is the reverse-forward lever button. It feels stiff and feels like cheap tool switch

good tear down , thanks for the tidbit about Milwaukee scanning all the old documents that’s nice to know although i wouldn’t bank on them keeping it up to date on everything they manufacture ? although it would be nice

Just got mine. Is it supposed to blink all 4 lights and stop working when the trigger is slightly pressed when driving a screw? I can let go of the trigger, press it right away, and it works again.

I love all (at least 50) milwaukee cordless tools, however, I watched this to hopefully learn why my impact (like shown) will not change from screw to set 1,2 or 3 mode. Any idea what i might try before service? (5year warranty i believe) Any help would be awesome. 👌 Thanks, -Mark

Excellent video ty. I let somebody borrow my impact gun and they left it out in a light rain just enough to get the ground wet but over a period of time when I picked up the gun from him it showed a dead battery when I got home I put a new battery in it and charge the old one I know the battery worked because I tried it in another gun but on the impact gun it showed it dead battery I even tried different batteries with the impact gun same result so I'm going to take it apart and see what happens

I'm pretty disappointed with the power of this drill, even with the bigger batteries. Is there a shunt on the main board that one could lower the value of to make it chooch harder? I find it trips out way too easily.

I got dirt in the anvil on my impact driver and when I pull the trigger in low rpms it sounds like its grinding, unless I put pressure on the anvil which it stops.

Wish I would have seen this video before purchasing this tool. It’s like they designed it to not tolerate getting wet at all. Use this in the rain once and it’s junk. The PCB is not sealed and they even put holes in the case so water can easily get on the PCB and fry it. Really disappointed that they would do this, and I can assure you it was intentional.

Nice video. I own my original Milwaukee circular saw, Sawzall and Deck/drywall gun, all corded from the mid 90s and all are suoer tools. I got away from Milwaukee the past 15 years because junk, but the past few years they've been outstanding. Dewalt is hit or miss, but Milwaukee is getting to that Makita level of tool again. That being said, do not buy tools because you are a fan of team yellow or team red or team teal. Buy the best tool for the job because everyone makes them differently and some are better than others, despite your preconceived notions. As a carpenter I won't buy brushless. They're killer tools, but i need cords for most of my work and brushless is just one more thing to fail. Simple is often better, especially for longevity. I do own cordless impacts and drills for convenience and still went brushed because they're cheaper and I believe will last longer doing construction. The brushless DC motors are killer, it's the control boards i worry about.
