Today we look at the BIG switches (and I really mean BIG!!) developed by Novelkeys. These were demo'ed by Razer at CES. Hope you enjoy the video! :)

It would also be handy on regular switches, to act as a light pipe, for more even illumination. The housing could be coloured to reflect switch type.

It's so surreal to see these switches just resting on the table and then to see your comparatively small hand come into the scene. I'm so used to seeing the normal-sized ones that I have trouble figuring out how big these are.

I can confirm that mechanical switches are just about the most optimal fidget toy possible. I have a collection of fidget toys at my desk, and since getting a 12-switch tester from NovelKeys I almost never touch them anymore.

For some reason I'm thinking that these would make a great foot operated D-pad. Would help disabled gamers who might not have good finger dexterity from having a stroke or for someone who outright lost an arm.

Just map Enter to the blue one, so you get a nice typewriter-ish feeling every time you change line. Or it could double as a foot pedal?

Make a custom enclosure for one of them, mount it under your desk, and have a foot activated PTT button for voice chat.

They are exactly 4 times bigger in all directions, not 10 times. Just got a an orange tactile. Wish I could find a blue clicky.

How tall would a person have to be to use that keyboard properly?

the switches are roughly 10x bigger than normal switches, so i'd say 10x the size of the average person. The average adult male is roughly 5 ft 10 inches or 1.8 meters, multiplied by 10.. well, I think you get the idea, you would need actual Giants to use it properly lol

They are 4 times in linear size, that translates in 64 times the volume and the weight. So if the average height is 175 cm and 70 kg a person right for those switches would be 7 meters tall and weight 4500 kg. And it would have a voice similar to chyrosan22's!

It reminds me of that Cherry MX Switch tester that you often find at such stores for special gaming peripherals and it also looks like that famous Razer green switch tester in the form of a keychain. I don't know how else to describe it.

My plan is to make that fabled 122 key BIG switch keyboard out of either brass or carbon fiber depending on wether I want to ever move the thing for the next 1000 years.

I could see value in these for foot operated switches or control panel switches. can't imagine much use in keyboards except maybe some foot operated thing for people with no arms

I think it would be cool if they made a switch that flattened the click bar into a click leaf. The sound would be way meatier and deeper. It may inch us closer to a MX compatible with a sound and feel closer to ALPS.
