What are some of your favorite still in production MX Compatible clicky switches? I was planning on getting the 8bitdo keyboard and wanted to experiment with different switches. I also have the idea of putting really heavy switches (probably navies) on the caps lock key, win key and the backslash key since I accidentally hit those a lot, and lighter switches on everything else.

If you like very strong tactility, definitely give Clickiez a try. Below that, your favourite flavour of clickbar switch.

Hey Chyros, I have one of these with Pine SKCM whites that I got on eBay cheap a few years ago (It was even converted to USB by the seller!) in excellent condition! (I suspect it barely had been used because the switches felt very nice and the ABS keycaps weren't yellowed or shiny at all!) I think it's a fantastic keyboard and I haven't had the build quality issues you mentioned. Other than the clip together design, mine barely flexes at all even when I use considerable force, and mine is quite heavy too, 1.2KG. (I am sure that isn't heavy compared to some of the boards you have, but compared to the boards I am used to its quite heavy.) Mine also sounds great, just like how yours sounded in the video. Overall it's a great board and I recommend it if you can live without windows keys, are ok with a 100% layout, and can find one for a good price in good condition. (That's the only 2 things I don't like about this, the lack of windows keys and that I wish it was a TKL since I almost never use the numpad, but I would rather have a 100% than a 60% so that's good at least.)

Don't recommend anyone buy any board from Epomaker. They have a long history of illegal activity, poor QC, extremely bad/non existent CS, trademark infringement, deceptive business practices. Even went as far as to try and strong arm reputable boutique custom keyboard vendors into shutting down for rightfully reselling certain boards.

The cable that comes with the screen keyboard is an "upgrade" keyboard cable that they've sold individually for a while. They're fairly nice for what it's worth, altho there's a lot of copycat cables sold online and in random shops as I've seen.

10:59 lmaooo wait how tf did you turn the lights on? it looks like you used telekenesis also also i love the white board it looks weirdly retro with the tall top and pencil holder and with the round keycaps and large lettering, but it also has a modern feel with the color scheme and materials. its not personally what I would choose for a board but it has a different look to it that is very unique and cool

That 100% is probably for the battery, as it has BT & Wireless support. Prices on the site are at $140 and $90 on the Epomaker site. The pen-holder is for tablets and phones and the like, as I expected. "Poron sandwich foam and IXPE under-switch padding + bottom foam" is nice, so a well padded keyboard. The one with the screen has double the battery to run the screen (10k vs 5k mAH). Looking forward to the review, at 90 euro + all that padding it might be something that I will pick up. Hope one has the tactiles instead of the linears, as that's my cup of tea.

@jtnachos16
@jtnachos16 2 күн бұрын
It looks like an 8bitdo. It's a REALLY solid board out of the box that sounds nice and has no issues aside being a TKL, and they have a matching keypad (that doubles as an independent calculator) coming out this month. Looks like an N model with some other keycaps on it. Or maybe a custom painted F or M model with custom caps. Hard to tell without a really solid look at it. I do seem to remember when he did his review of it he was talking about sticking either zeal clickies or jades in it instead of the box whites for fun. Mine is running Silent whales just because I unfortunately have audio sensitivity issues that means on a bad day, clickies are ear-piercing, else I'd have stuck with the box whites. It also might not actually be his 'daily driver', for that matter. He's certainly got enough keyboards he may well just grab whatever looks good and has some charge left out of a drawer when he boots the pc up that morning.

@@Aerobrake A lot of people REALLY like having a numpad. Some use the numpad for shortcut macros, others just use it for normal numpad things, and usually a TKL + a separate numpad is significantly more pricey than a similar quality full size board. Assuming you can even FIND a full size board that fits your desires in the first place these days, as more and more they are being bypassed for TKL or even smaller form factors. 8bitdo's pricing is interesting, because the actual board, even beyond the theming, is REALLY quite solidly built, with nice sound, the stabs aren't gross, the keycaps aren't the BEST, but aren't bad either. It's also capable of wired or wireless function (with both BT and 2.4g, with the 2.4g dongle being designed to be stored IN the board while not in use), has reasonable battery in wireless mode, can store profiles on-board, has on the fly macro, has the extra buttons for macro buttons, has a volume dial, and all for prices comparable to other boards that don't have all those features at similar levels of build quality. Add in that it's not only hotswap, but it's the GOOD hotswap with 5-pin kailh support instead of just being sized for cheap Outemu switches right out of the box coming with the box white V2s which are a pretty solid clicky switch (not the best but free of any particular annoyance points you might find with others) that takes full advantage of the frame's acoustics, and it's a REALLY good starting point for customizing to suit particular interests, especially with it having different variations available that change base colors but are otherwise identical. The one thing it 'lacks' is RGB. Now with the keypad coming out, it winds up gaining a surprisingly high level of flexibility as a 'full set' while maintaining some additional features over what is typical of a comparable 'pre-assembled' 104key at that kind of price point. 8bitdo, much like with their controllers, seem to have found and nailed something of a sweet spot in the variables of price, build quality, and features. Man, that reads like a marketing spiel. Can you tell I really like mine even though I was dubious about picking up a TKL? Lol.

The fact that these keyboards include actual function keys is enough for me to consider giving them a shot. Most custom keyboards exclude them to keep their footprint smaller and require a usually dumb as hell key press combo to get what you can get by just pressing a single friggin' key if they just included the function keys. That kind of thing, and actual carpal tunnel inducing hand cramps and wrist pain aside is a deal breaker for me.
