Thanks a lot for your video because you're the only one on youtube who did the teardown for this model. However I would suggest for anyone who having issue to get the battery compartment out to push near the ribbon cable (against the plastic frame, between micro usb port and the ribbon). Pushing against the battery like you did in the video could damage it if you're exercing too much pressure.

Thank you for posting a useful video. I managed to open mine without breaking a clip - just watched carefully where to start. To put it back one needs to work in the reverse order, first fit the bottom and move up, the upper part will click into place easily.

Thanks, just fixed my remote that was only working when connected to charger. It helps to lightly warm the device with heatgun or hairdryer on low and use a wide blunt tool (popsicle stick, tweezers handle, big flathead screwdriver) to push the battery+plugs module out. I then poked a safety pin under all the gold springs, slightly bending up the little hooks on the large PCB, around 6 on the rear, 2 on the front. It's also possible just disconnecting and reconnecting the ribbon cable might have actually been the fix. Either way, cheers :) Oh and the battery was fine, measured 4.1v

Right on. My method was a tad crude but worked. Maybe next time I'll use more caution.

Thanks man, this seems to be the only vid of how to do this on the internet. I dropped mine one too many times and the positive battery wire came out of the connector. I managed to push it in and hot glue it all together. That sure is one micro wire connected to a micro connector. Couldnt even figure out how to unplug it. Again, thank you so much, your effort is greatly appreciated

Every button on my remote works except the circle ring. Even the center button in the middle of the ring works. So I can’t go up or down or left or right when using my remote. What should I do once I open it? Everything from the exterior seems to be normal and the ring button (directional pad) seems to be fine when I push down on it but get no movement. To be clear my remote is paired and works on my TV, every button works except the circle ring.

Once open I would Check to see if the button on the circuit board is good. Such as garbage on the connection and not rusted or shorted.

AHH man. Gen 1 can't replace the battery . Will the gen 2 remote work on the a gen 1 shield?

I am not sure, but I believe it should. You would have to pair it by plugging it in. If it were to work.

Hmm... mine doesn't have a USB on the bottom of it. Mine also takes 2 2032 puck batteries, it's not rechargeable...

What are my options to keep battery wire plugged in? I don't have a hot glue gun. Maybe a dab of crazy glue or electric tape?

When i press my Mic button, the button turns green, Shield displays its listening but the words aren't being picked up. Is this a remote issue or system? I tried clearing Bluetooth Cache etc. I can't find an answer anywhere. Shield 2015.

I have one slight problem. I opened my remote, now i cant put it back together. The clamp near the charging port just wont get back into place. Nothing is broken. i checked, all clamps are there, but this one just wont slide back in to let me close back the remote. Any tip ?

I would double check the female Clamp end on the bottom part. You my have broken the receiving end of the clamp.

Thank you for the reply. Sadly both of clamps were ok. I managed to fix by bendint the male clamp in the outside position. Also, the female clamp was made of aluminum, so breaking it was imposible. I finally closed it somehow, but it still has a little wiggle on the sides. Well, thats about all that can be done.

Anyone ever successfully repaired the mic on this remote. I like many have this remote where the mic just randomly stopped working (almost sure Nvidia purposely killed it in t a firmware upgrade to force you to buy a newer model)

Is there a way to disconnect ribbon cable on battery end and pull out battery?

If your goal is to keep the ribbon cable on while you do the rest. You can but you just need to be careful. when you push the battery out so you can unclip it.

Your Best bet would be to Desolder the MIC2 chip and leave the area blank. Make sure its clean so it is connected to nothing. The MIC can be found on the IFIX it page Step4 Picture1. The Mic is labeled at the top as MIC2

I did change the battery and when I tried to pull out the tray again it’s blocked and it does not come out, so how to open it?
