The 2 ohms is compensated by an additional few ohms from the dinky cabling :D

I still don't think anything will beat those "high end" speakers I found several years back that were about the same size as these, but just had a single 4 inch driver in each cabinet!

I remember years ago you found some speakers with ridiculously big bass reflex ports, are those the speakers you mean?

I am planning to do a tour of the workshop but the problem is this place is always such a mess, it would be difficult to explain what everything is...

These are 6 ohm speakers that come with branded decks. They are assembled permanently and you cant get in without destroying some parts of its enclosure.

Some "Class D" amplifiers can operate down to 2 ohms... but I wouldn't recommend loudly for too long...
@uxwbill5 жыл бұрын
There are certainly ways to _make_ them play. (Insert evil laughter here.) I'd put them in series with one another, if the amplifier can handle a nominal four ohm load. They're certainly of...interesting...construction. In spite of the cabinet, it looks like some money was actually spent on the drivers.

I see similar plastic Chinese speakers at almost every Thrift Store visit, and pass them over every time. Interesting how the woofer is 2 ohm matched with an 8 ohm mid-range. And yes, particle board absorbs smells... glad it was just cigarettes and not cat urine...
@AlexRutiaga4 жыл бұрын
I bought a cheap woofer with 5.1 outputs for my parent's home theater and the surround speakers that came with it looked very similar to these, they had the same pro logic label on them. Unfortunately i threw them away as i had already installed better speakers in the living room already. Probably a cheap chinese non-brand from the mid-2000s or late 2010s. The woofer does its job btw

Thanks for the warning, well if I would smoke at home my SB Acoustics would also smell like cigarettes ;) Very bad habit. But I got some ok equipment from ex smoker that never opened his windows - complete disassembly and lots alcohol to get rid of the residue and smell. If smokers would be turned off by it.

I can only imagine the old cigarette smoke😖. My grand uncle smoked cigars and when we had to clear his elderly home everything had that odour over it including stains from years of cigar smoke. Really weird that those speakers have absolutely no padding in them, sould have expected at least a bit of polyester fibrefill in it.

That's one thing that I don't like about all in one stereo systems is most of them tend to have inferior quality speakers compaired to the sort of speakers you would use with a seperates system. Although with some all in one system speakers the tweeters are just decoration I was surprised those speakers have 3 drivers in them. I think in most cases they do have real tweeters.
@FSM_Reviews4 жыл бұрын
I think the complete speaker with all the drivers connected in series would equal around 6 Ω.
@DrCassette4 жыл бұрын
2 Ω (woofer) + 8 Ω (tweeter) = 10 Ω, but you don't connect speakers in series.
@travis47985 жыл бұрын
My guess, 2 ohm speaker goes with special 2 ohm amplifier. Aka they wanted to make sure you didn't use these with any other amplifier. I had a Panasonic SA-AK330 system. Bi-amplified speakers (turns out actually bi-amplified after tearing down the amplifier) I believe it was something along the lines of a 10 ohm tweeter and 3 ohm woofers. To top that off the woofers are power hungry, stiff suspension to work with the cheap ported enclosure.
@svenschwingel86325 жыл бұрын
Bet that thing doesn't even have a real tweeter, let alone a crossover

I think you shouldn't ciritise everything that comes from China. You know the Chinese can build quality stuff, if they build crap like this it's only because the client (probably from the West) ordered it to a very low price.
