All I wish for is using the correct term for the knots. Macrame which came from fishing knots using the same terminology - what you are doing here is a half-hitch knot. A right or left half-hitch knot makes a "flat" knot, a series of right or left half-hitches gives the knot a twisting motion.

After you do the teardrop, the bottom comes to a point and makes a v shape. you can continue to knot down the v towards the middle (which i find easiest and the best looking) , or you could go row by row, or you can segment knot it , which she made a video on how to segment knot on her channel :)

This is so cool! I thought it would be impossibly hard, but after your explanation, it looks very doable :D I've always started my bracelets with an unbraided loop and a knot, and ended them with a simple braid, and then wrapped the loop onto/around the braid so that I could move the "wrapped loop" up and down the braid and make the bracelet on my wrist loose or tight, but tbh the teardrop loop looks so much cooler :D Thanks!

I just found this channel and am loving it! I teach a string art class at a summer camp (friendship bracelets, kumihimo, plastic lacing, and tapestry weaving), and these are definitely going to open up my repertoire! I just started a fishbone chevron and it is going quite well. I like this teardrop loop technique as well. Concerning attaching bracelets while working on them, all of my students get a binder clip to take with them. They can then clip their projects to their backpacks, water bottles, or anything else. It is very effective and doesn't wear out like tape does. I'm also planning on making a QR code to your channel to give to my students for if they want to try out more types of bracelets at home.

I’ve been making bracelets for quite some time now. I usually just start out with braids or the simple loop. It wasn’t until recently I’ve come across this as a way to start bracelets. This is by far the most helpful video I’ve come across! I usually only do forward knots and even though I’ve secured my bracelet it some how kept going into a staircase pattern. I never thought of doing forward backwards and I think that might help me! Thank you for always making such informative and helpful videos! 💘

Something I've learned from watching fingerloop braiding videos is to screw a hook or hammer a small nail into a board. You can then hook you project onto the hook/nail and work from there. It gives you freedom to rotate left and right and you can easily slip your bracelet off at any time to check it. My question is how much extra is some extra? Like how much longer do you typically make the teardrop string? A quarter meter, a meter, more?

I use a piece of cardboard with slits cut in it. If the bracelet starts with a loop, then I just slip a short length of string through it, knot it, and slide that into the cardboard slit at the top. The knot keeps it from pulling through. Then I can keep all my strings in order by using the many bottom and side slits.

I usually use a clipboard, but a lot of the clips that clipboards have, I find just aren’t strong enough, or versatile enough for me, so I typically flip it and use binder clips. I can move the binder clip at different angles and it clamps down pretty hard. But this hurts my back because clipboards are smaller and it’s difficult to use on a flat top unless you put weights on it. So I end up leaning over it a lot. But, I’m going to be getting a macrame board (which is much bigger) and using pins to hold the bracelet down to see how it works.

I just use a clipboard for all my bracelets 😂😂 i used to just tape them to my desk tho. If im making them in public i usually loop them onto my bag or shoe or something 😂

I secure the very simple loop with my pop socket on my phone case. For teardrop loops I use the safety pin method

I use what I call a bracelet broad. So it is a piece of wood that has nails in it to loop around and you can clip a binder clip to it and do it that way too.

Hi Masha! I secure mi bracelets with a clipboard, but before I used strong'n big clippers, one of them smaller, and the bigger one clipped on to a table... perfect 🔥

I love this tutorial!! Will definitely be using this loop going forward! Do you have any advice on how to make your bracelet horizontal again rather than following the v shape?

as I understand it you'd have to finish the horizontal rows of knots until you reach the top of the v and then you could continue horizontally, but I don't fully trust me I'm also just a beginner.

This is a late comment but I’ve just discovered your channel and it’s been so helpful :) I secure my bracelets either using a binder clip or (I’m going to try to explain this bear with me) a cardboard thingy which on the top has two cuts to put the loop or braids around and on the bottom has many many cuts/slits for organizing the threads. It’s a little longer than a complete bracelet length and it’s really convenient because I don’t need to secure that to anything else. Sorry that was long and probably confusing 😅 Thanks again for all your videos, it really is a whole new world of bracelet making

They make “macrame boards” with long needles that have notches so you can separate out individual strings! I found a vintage one that had never been used at a thrift store for super cheap!

I use a bunch of left over threads from an old bracelet and hook them around the start of the loop and then pinch the loose ends together under the clipboard. It works pretty well for me but idk if I explained it very well

i use duct tape because it’s stickier and more heavy duty than say masking tape or scotch tape. hope this is helpful!

What i did was I halved my strings for the bracelet, then I got a scrap piece of yarn and made a knot in the middle half of the folded strings.(this scrap yarn can be cut later when you’re done)Then I knot the opposite side that I’m not working on(it’s a knot that you pull undone so that you don’t have to work hard to unknot it at all but it keeps you from pulling the other side down)and then I use my safety pin to hold it down onto my pillow.

My baby sitter in the early 2000s use to safety pin her bracelet to her jeans while she worked on it, I find I tug too hard for this sort of thing or just had a crappy safety pin lol but I think everyone should give it a try, might be your new favorite way!

I learned by using safety pins to hold them down, and we would pin them to the floor carpet, our jeans, back of the car seat for long travels. Clip board is good but they can slip out

She said that you can make a normal flat/ even pattern without the teardrop part, just don't tie off your colors like she dies when she shows the v pattern. You will have the loop without the v shape.
