If you have a pass vid on your saddles please direct me to it. Thanks.

More recently I've been using the Monkey Beaver saddle with the shoulder straps. Took some getting used to, felt quite tippy at first and an usual fit compared to what Ive been accustomed to. But after getting used to it I like it a lot. Most noticeable is the fact that its probably the only harness I've worn where I've felt no pain either during or after a big climb.
@wyomingbound7470Ай бұрын
@@Recoates thanks for the info I appreciate it I have been climbing several years now and always been using a basic weaver saddle with the lower strap under your rear and so im used to that but thought I would try something with a wider back but the leg straps are terrible uncomfortable anyway thanks again for your time.

Impressive work taking down that massive Sitka Spruce! The size of that tree is unreal. How long did it take to bring the whole thing down?
@RecoatesАй бұрын
Probably a couple of hours. We had other things to do first thing, including waiting on a blasting mat to be delivered to protect the road. But i remember it was down and I was eating a sandwich at the cafe before noon

I'm guessing that even though you're right beside the mill, because it was dead they won't be interested in using the wood. Another great video, Reg. I can almost smell the fresh cut timber, the cool wind, the weak sunlight on a fall day.
@RecoatesАй бұрын
Hey Dave. The job was paid for by the Mill/Dryland sort, as the trees were now a danger to the Cafe. They are also doing the clean-up. I don't know whether or not those logs have much value overall. We took 9 down in total

Thanks for the wonderful views I wish other KZbinrs would watch the limbs all the way to the ground for some odd reason they look around like they’re not filming what they’re purposely making a video I think Buckin August are about second and third, but I’ve always enjoyed your videos. Even the ones I have no business watching like product testing but I watch anyway.
@shawntrevordanielАй бұрын
When you're climbing trying to get a job done you know from th3 second the limb leaves your hand where it's gonna land and there's no need to watch it anymore. Usually I only watch it if I slipped and it's heading toward the fence or something.

Hi Reg. Great video. Do you not use the climbing device you designed anymore? And how is the mkiii 540?
@RecoatesАй бұрын
Hey Sam. You just caught me stepping out the door. I didn't know if the tree would still be oozing sticky sap. Hitches cope with sap much better than mechanicals. But as it turned out the tree was like a bone dry skeleton. The climbing device will be produced by Notch equipment sometime in 2025. It's been a long process.

Something seemed off in this video Reg...for one you usually show your face at some point in a video...also you always cut the length of your logs so that they are perfect for the height they are falling from so that they always land flat without flipping end to end and that didn't look like you in the final shot by the stem? 🤔
@RecoatesАй бұрын
@@rayclark9643 I didn't fall the stem. We also had a blasting mat buried underneath the brush to protect the road, which was causing everything to bounce. Landing logs flat has its place, but not really a point to it on this job. The machines from the mill would have all that mess cleaned up in less than a couple of hours.

It's generally a 50/50 split between those who like it and those who don't. I personally like to muffle the sound of the saw with music of some kind. Probably because I had to make all those cuts to start with. And then listen through them 10 more times over through the editing process. It gets a bit much
