Tearing down the 1967 mustang hood

Why do you prefer sanding off the flanges and not peeling it out? Does welding the new flanges making distortion?

Peeling the flanges back takes forever, usually damages the outer skin, and is more likely to crack at the fold line. So grinding it off id the way I prefer to do it. When you Tig weld the new hem on you get a little distortion from the heat but a little hammer and dolly work to stretch the weld corrects it.

@@tsehisht no different than hammering over a standard hem edge and finishing it off flat. It doesn’t really take much hammer work at all
