Interesting reaction to Joel's emotions. I wouldn't say he was jealous. It's just hard for him to see any good in this world (not to mention he spent months looking for his brother who in the meantime was thriving somewhere out west without so much as a word to even say he was okay). It's why he tried to reject any love between him & Tess. And why he pushed so hard against it with Ellie. The first day of this "world" the people who were supposed to protect him and his family shot and killed his daughter. & it's been nothing but hell ever since. Why would he be supportive of anyone bringing more human beings into this bleak existence? ( ie. literally burning children's bodies for work.) In his talk with his brother he is finally opening up and being honest. He is not being selfish. Being scared is not something you choose. He's asking his brother to take her because he thinks he will get her killed - because he's lost faith in his own ability. Because he's gotten older. He finally believes in something for the first time in twenty years - & that something also happens to remind him exactly of what he lost. He's operated a certain way for a long time - and Ellie has shaken his entire world. I think Christmas also triggered him. Dude hasn't seen a Christmas tree since his daughter was alive.

Joel is having panic attacks, and Jackson is from part 2 of the game.

It's not jealousy. Imagine if you have a sibling whom you care and love for that you'd die for them. You did everything for them even sacrificing something in your life for them, only to find out that they don't appreciate it, that they'd rather not be with you and stay away from you. It's broken heart, and Joel here shut Tommy out because he felt abandoned, he felt alone. He pretended that everything is alright with his life because he didn't want to show Tommy that he wasn't doing well.

The raider got Joel with the handle of the broken baseball bat. I'm kind of torn on the "Should he have removed it" thing that people bring up. Obviously it's plugging the wound and possibly negating the chances of bleeding out. On the other hand, their mode of transportation is a HORSE. If they were in a car, then I'm right there with you. Leave it in. However, I don't think I would like bouncing on a horse and having the handle playing patty cake with my insides. That's just me though...

... and it has to come out at some point. You would normally wait until you're under medical care, in an ER for instance, but in Joel's situation? There's really no good time for it, it just has to be done anyway.

@@demopem Precisely. Another angle to incapacitate the enemy is by using bio warfare. "Get the pooh stick out of me!" is a reasonable response." :) (I've been watching too many "How to beat" channels.)

Maybe he’s feeling himself caring and getting attached and wanted to bail on it before the feelings get stronger but thinking about his daughter the night before he changed his mind. Seems he’s completely invested in Ellie’s well being at this point.

Joel wasn't angry with Tommy because of Tommy's new life. He was angry that Tommy cut all contact with him without warning and made him think that Tommy might be in trouble or dead. Joel spent most of his life looking out for his brother especially after the pandemic for Tommy just to cut all contact with him and don't give two shits about how Joel is doing or whether he knew that Tommy is safe. So Joel's reaction after seeing Tommy living the good life after Joel spent months thinking that he was in trouble or dead is justified.

I understand what you all are saying sympathizing with Joel. I understand where Joel is coming from. I feel for Joel, I don’t believe that his reaction is appropriate but I think that’s the point. His reaction is supposed to be what it is so he can grow. Joel cannot be vulnerable. He is absolutely terrified and that is making him into not a nice person in this case. That’s where the anger comes from. However, it’s not a healthy reaction and he is hurting people because of it.

Good reaction, but I think you're failing to see Joel's perspective here. Of course he isn't mad that Tommy is doing good, but Joel just went through hell to save his brother, including losing Tess. And when he finds him it turns out he has been living his best life for months, but didn't even have the respect to message Joel saying he was safe. He didn't have to tell him where he was, but he could have said he was safe. And it wasn't just because of selfish fear he asked Tommy to take her, he also legitimately thought he was unable to give her the protection she needed. It was still too much to ask, I agree, but it was not selfish, more desperation. And isn't Tommy a grown ass man too, he can say no. The only thing I really hold against Joel in this episode is the way he responded to Ellie in her room.

Why cut out the start of the episode? that is bad. I watch over 25 full reactions to full serie and only you and 1 more cut it out. I hate it. It weak. We all seen it before and know it begins with it so looks....to cut it out. Otherwise like the reactions, for now until this part i give it a 7 of 10. Seen some that dont cry where all others do or destroy moment by joking. It is concerning.

I stopped after this episode. Joel pulling that stake out was the dumbest thing his character could do
@trueprototype421 Жыл бұрын
The problem is that in order for the game's story to be somewhat accurate, there was no other way than to pull it out, because in the game he was impaled on a pile of rubble and he had to push himself up off the ground to free himself.
@UltimaTheSeraph Жыл бұрын
What was he gonna do? Not pull it out and wait for an ambulance? You are not supposed to pull it out if you are not moving, you would need to be laying down still and wait for an ambulance. And there comes the raiders...running on foot isn't an option with that wound, they'd need to ride the horse, and riding a horse isn't like riding a car, it's bumpy which would make the splinter damage other organs has it left intact.
