These are heartwarming stories about runway pets reuniting with their owners. In 2016, Luna, the world's luckiest German Shepherd, was reunited with her owner after being lost at sea. In 2015, a curious cat names Kevin was home at last after his unusual cross-country experience. In 2018, 1-year-old Bentley was reunited with his owners after wandering the Colorado Rocky Mountains for weeks. Inside Edition Digital’s Andrea Swindall has more.

My dog ran away when someone accidentally opened the gate. He was gone for days and we couldn’t find him anywhere. While my dad was deployed in Qatar, the family cat ran away from the house, and we desperately tried to find him. One of us accidentally let him out by leaving the backyard door open. Fortunately, he came back after we set his litterbox outside. Needless to say, he doesn't go outside without careful supervison of one of our parents. He refuses to wear a collar, do it was scary for us.

I went through this hell TWICE and thank god both times they came back! My cat in 2012 was gone for 2 weeks. She got hungry enough where she got brave and started scratching at the door of our apartment to come back in. As soon as the door opened, she darted inside. Only problem was, it wasn’t our apartment. She got the right apartment number, just the wrong building, we were the next one down. I happen to be wondering up and down the parking lot looking for her like I did every day and she came up to me and was like “is this your cat?” She was covered in motor oil. She literally was hiding in one of the vehicles in the parking lot, right under our noses! The second time our kitten escaped and was gone for 56 days! She just randomly showed back up at our front door. I feed the strays and a new cat came around the day before, I fed it and went in for the night. I saw the same cat the next day and my husband is like “OMG THAT IS OUR CAT!” I didn’t even recognize her! She was a kitten when she got lost and she came back a full grown cat 🥰. UGH what a nightmare tho

One of my childhood cats, Tootle, was an indoor/outdoor cat. We only really let him out to roam when we were home, and we could always bring him running back with the sound of the treat bag or opening a can. One day, we got a call from a neighbor that she had found a dead cat who looked like Tootle. In fact, it was NOT our cat. Our cat was inside at the time we got the call. But it did stick with us. The cat we'd had before Tootle and his sister had also been allowed outside, and always came back to us. But we haven't let any cat outside unsupervised since Tootle passed away in 2008.

Put your dog on a seatbelt. They’re cheap they clip into the buckle and then clip to their harness. Don’t clip it into a collar. They have travel harnesses as well.
