You're right! I've been obsessed with singing this song lately, so I figured I should learn the bass line too. After sight reading the tab, I tried singing and playing it, and yeah, it feels very natural. Very repetitive bass lines, but very rhythmic with great note choices. Love playing it with the vocal melody.

Didn't realize you slide down on one string then after that your next note is on another string. Edit: ooohhh he slides to the 10th fret on A which is an octave below that 12th fret on G? Oh...

Such a deceptively simple sounding bassline. Compliments the rest of the song perfectly. I always thought that there was something of a Motown influence on the bass in this one. One of the best songs of the 80s. Perfectly played as always, CS. Thank you for doing what you do. Every video and tab is greatly appreciated.

I've been used the slides in the outro to get my accurate sliding with my pinky, and pinky strength, back up to snuff. My was a toddler when this song came out, so she just hears weird sliding from the next room and wonders if I'm scoring a horror film or something.

Wondering about the slides: is Curt playing 0-1-2-3-4, or more like 0 2-3-4 or something else? And in the 3-to-12 slide, is he playing the notes all the way to and including the 12th fret on the A string, or maybe playing only to the 10th or other? Not sure how literally to take slide notation. Anyway this has been fun to learn & you sound great, thank you for doing this!!
