How about starting at the bottom with something both can afford. The poor guy will kill himself to buy Siqi fancy apartment. We can all dream, but do be realistic in your expectations. Happiness is not built on bling as important as it is to live somewhere, something slightly more modest will work. The lead couple, I can see how the leading lady has lost a portion of her spontaneous spark after losing the man she loved and how the guy is slowly opening up his heart to her. It's a lovely story line. I cried alot... Very touching drama, deep and meaningful. Thanks for posting. She's pretty much alone without her friend!

Truthfully, there is nothing to dislike about Lei Yuzheng. He maybe a cold and withdrawn guy, but he has no facade. What you see is what you get. He doesn't lie, he doesn't pretend, he is honest and he is straightforward even with his prejudice. Du Xiaosu sees this now and although it's still up in the air, I'm sure Dr Shao is happy for them to be together.

Uhm...I started to wonder if Du Xiaosu, deep down, is a very calculating person??? Playing hard to get but keep Lei Yuzhen with a tight leash and get what she wants...the job, the condo, the pearl? Very skillful! This reminds me that, from another Chinese drama taken place in Shanghai many years ago, a boss telling his accountant (the young woman he loved) how to catch a big fish with a ling line...or something like that. Still, love this drama, great acting jobs from all actors, even that Siqi's desperation!!! Bravo!

I didn't get the impression that she is calculating, she has always been very straightforward about what she wants and never tried to get anything from him (she was working hard to pay for the condo but in her situation it was just impossible). Those situations you mentioned just turned out the usual way they do in dramas, when the male lead realizes he has wronged or misunderstood the female lead so he makes it up to her.
