What she did is actually smart - she licensed her name to another company who then took on all the risk. If the line flopped, or they were sued over product issues etc, none of that is Jaclyn's problem. She still made a good chunk of money with very little responsibility - honestly, it was a good move for her. Lying about it is what is really weird. And Morphe/Forma KNEW she was very publicly lying about it, so I can only assume it was a scheme to lend the brand more authenticity and boost sales. I would call that deceptive marketing at the very least, inching towards fraud depending on how much she benefitted from the lie...

I think if you look at other brands that were ACTUALLY self funded like Wayne Goss for example, you'll see a much narrower range of shades, selection of products, types of packaging etc. Even Jeffree Star started with few liquid lipsticks. (Though I would not be surprised if the next big bomb from this is that Morphe was the main shareholder in JSC all along...)That hairy lipstick launch was really big-- that's a massive amount of shades...we should have seen Morphe's quantity over quality approach all along.

Personally, I think was opening all the brick and mortar stores. Yes, there were lines around the block to get into the MOA store the day a new release would drop, otherwise it would be crickets chirping. Even before the pandemic online shopping had hit big malls really hard (where the Morphe stores were).Morphe stores were these huge lavish spaces in mega malls, extremely expensive. Sephora is way more sensible about their store sizes/locations and Ulta seems to know that a strip mall near the big mall is good enough...

I'm nerdy and work with marketing lol. The "set", clothing, lightning and accessories are spot on.
