TEC 2-1 Exhaust 🇬🇧 Royal Enfield Continental GT Interceptor 650 TEC Bike Parts Stinger

This 6th video in our series of Mods for the Royal Enfield Continental GT or Interceptor 650 reveals the installation of a TEC Bike Parts Stinger 2 into 1 stainless steel exhaust pipe. We do this installation with a bit of a twist by polishing the exhaust before installing it. This step really makes the exhaust look better than factory. Just waiting for TEC USA to have their new batch of stingers to clear customs. Anxious to get mine shipped to me. Liked your videos. I recently added single seat and cowl…custom painted to match my tank. Currently have TEC’s mufflers, but anxious to get the shorter, lighter Stinger. BTW 7 lbs., reduced, equals 1 HP gained…as a general rule. Your 650 is probably over 50-55 hp. With toothed mods

Thanks for the link to the Tec install. When I first got my 2020 Mr Clean I installed a pair of shorty slash cut mufflers from GP Cycle in the US. I really like the look but find them a bit too loud for my taste. Now though, I like the look of the Tec 2 better as well as the sound. If you don't mind, a tip on removing the stock mufflers. The first step is to remove the bolt holding the heat shield and then slide it forward to remove it. This will then give you better access to the bolt on the clamp. Cheers, Don

The TEC Stinger is nice. I prefer the stock exhaust, which has a nice soft rumble. There is something about hearing the exhaust and engine in beautiful harmony at full chirp down the highway, that is missing with the loudness of aftermarket pipes. Couple that with the nice audible and lovely transmission and you have a pure classic bike, sight and sound! 🏁🏁

I have bought both Royal Enfield and Triumph parts from TEC USA, the silencers are nice, added them to my 2020 650INT a year ago at 2,500 miles. The stainless header pipes became available, I added them a month ago; I am at 15,000 miles now. The header pipes are very inconsistent side to side, I need to get one of them bent a few degrees to make the silencers the same height and angle; one header is an inch longer than the other also! NO need to idle the bike for 15 minutes, the ECU adjusts as you ride. I am 230 pounds, my fuel mileage went from 72mpg to 75mpg with no other mods. Cylinder head temperature (I added a gauge) also dropped 30 degrees, it gets to around 210 on a 90-degree day; was running mid-200's Fahrenheit. Very happy that the sound is not obnoxiously loud, the un-corking of the restrictive stock exhaust and a nearly 30 pound weight loss.

Thanks for the input, I'm assuming you've got the 2 into 2 TEC set up. I was thinking of getting that before I went with the 2into1. TEC makes great parts!! I say that with no affiliation or support from TEC.

@@losttogether4ever I bought the silencers from TEC, put 10,000 miles on them while waiting for the header pipes to become available in the U.S. so I ended-up with 2 into 2. I have a 2020 Speed Twin with the TEC X-pipe and a 2012 Bonneville SE with TEC fork spring upgrade and their rear shocks; only gripe is with the header pipes for R.E.650 but I will tweak them to fit better.

Congratulations on the exhaust! I too have the stinger on my GT as well. The bike tends to pull well from lowers speeds now and you get to Shift through gears faster.

Sounds fantastic. Can you do a tutorial on lowering the gt 650 stock handle bars a bit low. The stock position is not aggressive. I wish to lower them. I know it's just a few bolts and sliding it down. But would really help to actually see it before I mess up the alignment myself. Thank you.

Hi mate, great video. In fact I’ve just fitted the same system. Do you mind me asking if you received a third gasket for the left hand pipe. I only received two copper gaskets for the manifolds. Cheers, Scott

Hey Thanks for watching. I received 2 copper gaskets for the manifolds and 1 thicker carbon type gasket for the left side mid pipe, it sits inside the mid pipe and seals once the clamp is tightened. Hope this helps!!

how did you solve the problem of the clutch cable touching the manifold? my sheath has melted!

Mine hasn't had any issues, the cable runs straight down my frame and then runs under the pipe and hugs my engine case, there's about 1.5" of clearance between the cable and pipe. There are clips holding the cable to the frame as well. Hope this makes sense and helps.

I am wondering how the pipes are after 2years, I have the same tec stinger on my interceptor and I'm thinking about polishing them too. Do they still turn orange?

Thanks for commenting, they are still like new after 2 years, I still have to give them a polish every couple of weeks but they still look great. They do go a little orangy/brown especially if I get caught out in the rain.

I’m thinking of an exhaust system for my new 2022 Interceptor. I want quality and something with a removable baffle. I like the S&S 2 into 1 and 2 into 2 but the price is high. How’s the quality of the Tec unit?

I don't have a problem with the quality of the TEC Stinger, I like the look of the welds and and finish sort of gives the bike more of a custom fab look. There are a lot of options out there to choose from depending if you are just looking for sound and looks to performance and weight reduction. For me the TEC is a huge reduction in weight overall finish isn't the greatest but it's priced to reflect that.

That's tough to say, I know the Stinger is not compatible with crash bars so the full weight of the bike would be resting on the pipe, of course you can always hope if you get an oopsie it goes to the left!!

Can you tell me how much the cost of the Tec 2 into 1 Stinger exhaust kit from the UK to the US? Just the shipping and taxes. I tried to contact them but the little bot was broken. I tried and tried but never got thru to anyone there. I like the kit but I want to know how much the shipping will cost me. The kit is on sale for $399.00. One more question: Did you have to re-map the ECU or did it adjust itself. Thanx in advance

My understanding is that TEC bike UK will not sell to the US or Canada you have to buy from TEC bike Parts USA, There was no ECU remapping needed the ECU adapted itself.

As far as I am aware, once the new exhaust is fitted you should start the bike from cold do not touch the throttle and allow the bike to warm up for 10/15 minutes. The allows the ECU to adjust to its new running conditions. You are supposed to do this for a DNA/KN air filter.... Just saying 🤗

Good tip, not sure if it really matters too much, eventually the ECU will adjust it might just take a few heat cycles as it adjusts.

Thanks for watching, I don't think so, I've ridden up to 4 hours at a time and it never bothered me, there is also a bigger DB reducer available from TEC to dampen the sound even more.
