I love my YYZ pedal, and if I had board space, I’d definitely upgrade to the 2112. Even though I sound nothing like Geddy, it’s just a magical tone that these pedals produce. Thank you for the review, Rodney!

Great video Rodney. I have a DI 2112 on my board, I run each channel into a separate GK head and Cabinet. My tone has been described as sound like a bulldozer, jet engine or Nuclear Reactor depending on which bass I'm using.

Love me some Tech 21. I've been using a basic Sansamp forever and consider it a big part of my sound. You can make a decent amp sound great and a great amp sound amazing. Right now I'm trying to decide between the Tech 21 DUG, the Steve Harris, and the 2112 for my next pedal purchase, of course I'll end up getting them all eventually. P.S. I just wanted to add in regards to an older video of yours thanks for the great tip about using cell phone protectors to create the bass plank effect, that's going to be helpful.

I don't know if I'm unique in this, I bought mine well over a year ago but still look at demos from people who surpass me in ability for inspiration. The tones you got are amazing, I've yet to run it with the channels separated, but blended using the so called 'g-spot' button has served me very well so far. Certainly less invasive than the jumper inside the rack unit, that's what tipped me towards the DI over the rack.

After you mentioning putting rounds on fretless, I picked up a set and am loving it. Back in the 90's I used to play with rounds but was using stainless flats more recently over concerns of fret board health. Was reassured when you said that it really wasn't as bad as people say. I no longer use Dean Markley Blue Steels so that helps a lot 😂. I didn't use to like SansAmp, I think because of not having midrange adjustment made it kinda sterile to my ears. But I'm really digging these new signature pedals and even the new iteration of the standard SansAmp has a mid control! Hope to get one of these before not too long. 3 of my favorite players have signature preamp/DIs so it will be a hard choice 😂. Thanks Uncle Rodney for all you do! P.s. I'd really like to single out that you probably go thru more instruments and metal playing styles in your reviews than anyone else and that is awesome! Really illustrates the possibilities. Can someone explain me the difference between the "Drive" knob and the "Saturation" knob ? For me the drive knob sounds more like an overdrive pedal as the saturation knob sounds more as the gain knob of an all tube amp (like an Orange AD200)

Funny thing is, the manual does not tell you how to combine the outputs. It tells you to contact Tech21. It is literally a hidden button. Why they don’t tell you about it is beyond me.

Tech21 is amazing, IMO on par with EBS and only surpassed by Darkglass, when it comes to bass preamps.

Two volumes means finally the same as one blend knob that millions of pedals already have. So I don’t see a difference. Unfortunately you cannot not change between two tones during live playing. More than 400€ for only one live sound is a lot of invest.

You're missing a huge amount of info. A blend knob doesn't create 2 completely separate signal paths.

@@RodneyMcG ? My electro harmonix Battalion has a clean channel and a distortion channel. Blend regulates the balance between the two. That ist the same result as if the two channels have individual volumes. I turn both up the same way and get a 50/50 mix. Isn’t ?
