For 1/4 " output, if you just use the" drive out" the 2 channels are mixed. And if you only want the drive channel just connect a dummy cable into the deep channel output
@jayfoghino53922 жыл бұрын
RUMA - Only on the updated units which the port says "mix/drive out". The one in this video is the earlier version. The website now has both owner manuals posted. Tech21 went and made something so simple undocumented and confusing.

A button on top would be very handy in various situations. This is a design flaw unless there is a reason for this. I have read somewhere that it lowers significantly the output. Is that true?
@davetigue61554 жыл бұрын
I have not noticed that at all - and certainly is NOT significant if it does. But consoles have gain controls, so no issue there even if it did.

Is this something they've changed with newer units? Or does this still work? I need to decide whether to go for the YYZ pedal, or DI 2112!!
@jdjk73 жыл бұрын
As far as I can tell, this is still true with new units. I think that the extra features of the 2112 do speak for themselves, and having to pop the battery cover and flip a switch to get mono functionality is a small price to pay, even if it is goofy design. It's better than not having the stereo option at all with the YYZ. If you're only gonna use it mono, then it's something you only have to do once.

@yvindglende15783 жыл бұрын
Awesome! Do you know if this can be done likevise with the rackmount ged2112?
@JasonSpencer553 жыл бұрын
I spotted the "jumper" line in the manual and thought that it was kind of odd they would force you to contact support to figure this out. I can only assume that they made it difficult so that you don't accidentally flip the switch, but perhaps that would have been solved with an actual switch vs push button.... who knows. Either way, glad you shared this. My amps are all single channel and the manual says NOT to use an ABY with it. I wonder how much difference it really makes in the signal though, e.g. does engaging this switch cause the combo to degrade? It's being combined SOMEWHERE before it's pushed out the speakers though, so how much does it matter if it's here in the box vs at the amp or DAW end of the spectrum? Thanks for the find. :)
@jdjk73 жыл бұрын
I believe the advice to not ABY is because splitting and then recombining signals can get hairy. Depending on the circuits involved, it can lead to nasty resonance/feedback, volume bleed issues, or phase issues.
@danieljames67993 жыл бұрын
So it's basically two stomp boxes in one with a switch for combined both.

Awesome Dave! First thing I did when I bought mine yesterday lol Curious though - Do you know if that switch also combines the 1/4” outputs? I noticed mine has “mix” labeled next to the 1/4” output on the left side as you look at the back panel so maybe it’s already functioning as a mono output that combines both channels. And it seems to be working, whether it’s due to the button or not.
@davetigue61553 жыл бұрын
Hi Motzi - Mine does not have a 'Mix' label on it. I have Deep and Drive XLR and Deep and Drive 1/4" outputs. The internal button switch mixes both channels together and is output on all 4 outputs. Doesn't matter which one you use. Easy enough to test I suppose. Perhaps they updated/modified the newer units??
@vivaknoxvegas3 жыл бұрын
This was my question too. Mine that just arrived has a 1/4" mix out but the manual hasn't been updated.
@shelvingunit20003 жыл бұрын
@@vivaknoxvegas I have noticed that if you use the first 1/4” out marked “mix/drive out” it seems to already be a mono out. That button trick is amazing though. Awesome find Dave. Really appreciate this video. This preamp is AMAZING

Interesting and the combined signal would be coming out of the deep or drive channel? I would love to have this unit, but since I am married I hope to get the YYZ instead which has most of the features. One of the things I was mostly concerened about it was exactly this, we'll see, maybe I can come up with a fair deal with my wife...hehe
@davetigue61554 жыл бұрын
The combined signal is out of ALL the outputs at the same time. Doesn't matter if you plug into the Drive or the Deep, XLR, or 1/4" - same signal. I was in the same boat as you regarding the YYZ or this - versatility down the road with this pedal may come in handy - Buy once, cry once - I always say - go for it! (I have no affiliation with this pedal - just my opinion....)

You really can't go wrong with this one. The pedal doesn't have an XLR like the rackmount or DI-2112 but, if you combine the channels as directed, you get 2 XLR's! One for FOH and one for my FRFR cabinet. Sweetness!
