Hey Jon, how do you compare this to the EBS Ultimate Drive?

Very different pedals. The EBS will give more of a classic warm overdrive tone. The dUg can replicate a SansAmp and it will also do what’s expected of it.

Why does the clean sound all but disappear when engaging the chunk mode? I thought they were supposed to be parallel signals, not series.

a complex filter engages that creates a very wide "hole" in the midrange centered around 500hz.. thats Dug's sound.

Hey there Jon, this pedal sounds great. I am interested in knowing, when both channels are engaged, does the mids eq effect the distortion or the clean channel or does it only work when the pedal is in clean mode (ie when the distortion channel is turned off) - just like with the dug 1000 amp. Thanks :)

mids affect overall tone.. regardless of which channel is selected
