If you place a quarter over the hole in the master cylinder reservoir, it won't splash the brake fluid when you operate the brake lever. Take it out when you are finished.

I live in Ca, our local BMW shop charges 800.00 to remove the plastic covers that doesn’t include inspection / diagnosis of any problem or reassembly . You make it look so easy , thanks Kirk .

Started watching this video live, but I had too much to do in my own shop. I know it'll be a great video I'll watch in the near future. I've got a new-to-me '07 K1200LT and an -04 R1150RT that need Spiegler lines installed.....The lines for the RT are already in the tool box. The LT lines will be getting ordered soon. Thank you for helping us old wrench twisters save a few bucks!

Not just in Vegas. BMW dealers are crazy expensive everywhere. They will also talk you into having more work done than is needed. Be careful when dealing with the dealer.

Hi Kirk thanks for the vid. When doing this is it best to replace pads and have the caliper pistons all the way retracted before bleeding this way I imagine would prevent less air being trapped in cylinders. Mines an 07 with original lines. The whole system was bleed a little over two years ago and the fluid was very dark almost black. The bike may have done 60 miles since then. She just sits parked up in the garage at least for now. So I was thinking of replacing the lines and doing the rear disc although there is no signs of cowbell. Bike only has 22,000 kilometres on her from new.

MInes a year 2,000 R1100R. Today I just replaced my 20 year old brake lines. I have 135,000 miles (218,153 km) on my bike. I still have all original calipers and disks. If you are not having an issue with disks, calipers and master cylinders, you can leave 'em alone. I replaced the lines because they were getting soft spots. You can always throw money at your bike, but not everyone is Jay Leno.

Hello, thank you Kirk for sharing once again. I would like to ask if you have any opinion/experience with Galfer line brakes. Also any opinion from the visitors is welcome. Thank you, regards

I only know guys that have used them and say they are good. I have no personal experience with them. ANY brake lines including bendy straws will be better than BMW crap OEM lines!

Hello Mike again. I've successfully replaced all my brake lines with the Spiegler brake lines you recommended for the K1200 LTs. My K1200 LT is a 2003. I've done the bleeding process and flush process. I used up one of the large Dot4 cans doing the manual bleeding and flush. And also did it a second time under the power of my ABS. I inspected all my lines and they are holding fluid true. Now for my ABS pump. Different story. I can't pin point where the leak is on the ABS pump. It's not a high pressure leak. Just a slow drop style leak. It seems to be leaking under the ABS pump rubber mounts under what looks to be a metal tray. It leaks down where my center stand and exhaust manifold. What are the most common issues for this thing to leak? And is there some easy fix? Since I've got the bike strip to its frame. Thanks in Advance.
@kirksmotorrad2 жыл бұрын
I am not sure what could be leaking on the pump. Maybe the connection between the reservoirs and the pump body? There is not much to leak there.

Is it necessary to pull the fuel tank completely off? Can I get away with just sliding it back? Enterprise, Kansas.
@kirksmotorrad2 жыл бұрын
You can do the brake lines with the tank on
@mikea.40992 жыл бұрын
Appreciate the reply. I am also doing a radiator flush. And have to slide the tank a bit rearward to get easy access to the radiator cap...lol
