The Hands-On book was my first and by favourite book on ML, which I still refer to as an ML Engineer. I always recommend Feature Engineering and Selection: A Practical Approach for Predictive Models, by Kjell Johnson and Max Kuhn, to people too; I like it because it has tons of practical advice, with references to original papers, if you're interested. It's also free online.

my great motivation for learning this, is because i was fascinated with semantic search and how we can get more out of the information i consume. i will try to learn this from the basics (math,python) i will make it my hobby. thanks for sharing.

Hey Larry. Always love your stuff. I have been playing with Supabase and SvelteKit. I ended up going with PocketBase instead as it’s also open source , gave me the same functionality but you can deploy on a $5 Linode server. If you do go with Supabase, I recommend you use Prisma rather than their api for your db interactions. Also look at Zod for form validation. Cheers!

Hey Larry! Thanks for the video. You mentioned some awesome resources, especially for ML. If you're still on the fence of whether or not to do the new channel, I'd personally recommend against it. The idea that you need a specific niche is flawed.

Hi Larry, thanks for all the links! I am a big fan of you, great content have learned a lot! I am doing the HuggingFace RL course and it is really nice, most of the exercises are focused on games/robotics, but I was able to create some custom gym environments and used it to teach an agent to do trading. Highly recommend, I am sure you will create some nice content with it.

Interesting that everyone is suddenly into ML and AI now that chatGPT and stable diffusion made it cool. I hope it doesn’t get overhyped too soon like DAAPs and web3 stuff was last year.
@parttimelarry
@parttimelarry Жыл бұрын
I don't think it's necessarily that they made it cool -- they just made it more accessible. People tried these products and saw interesting and useful results without having to jump through hoops. It's also been easy to share these results on social media. AI has always been cool, I remember using the AliceBot 20 years ago. It even inspired the movie Her, which was nominated for Best Picture a decade ago. Even using Alexa the first time was pretty cool IMO. It's just the user experience wasn't quite good enough. People describe this as more of an iPhone moment though because millions of people can play with it and see the value, even if the tech has been around a long time. As someone who lives in the Bay Area, things are always going to get overhyped because that makes number go up, so that will definitely happen :)

Happy New Year PTL!!! Thanx for the excellent content. Looking forward to what you have to share in 2023. Sentdex got me into python and data processing back in the day. I forgot about his channel. Thanx for reminding me. Navin Reddy is another excellent content source and of course you. Your channel has birth many ideas and at a rapid rate. Id like to see more JavaScript if possible because I was afraid of it and stuck to python for a while but lately that is all I code in. I am currently down the full stack smart contract wormhole, getting ready for the next crypto bull market. I think when NFTs move away from Jpegs it will be the next big thing. I have a few trading algos that produce a decent winrate and profit factor. I am anxious to apply ML to them to really hone in on the underlying signals. Very excited and grateful for you time and energy!!!
@parttimelarry
@parttimelarry Жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will definitely add JavaScript where appropriate, many of the companies I mentioned (Supabase, Netlify, etc) use JS for most of their examples. I actually know many languages, but I niched down to mostly Python for this channel. I am definitely thinking about expanding things out a bit to not be so narrowly focused. I enjoyed learning blockchain development and making tutorials on this topic, but also I look at stats (like watch time) and it seemed like that's not what people are here for. Definitely will share more regarding ML for trading in 2023, it's been on my list since 2020 lol.

Hi Larry, A Request: In your new AI channel, could you please cover reinforcement learning for starters. Instead of existing models how we can provide feedback to improve a model tailored to a case. A model to trade a stock. That will be interesting to learn. Thanks a lot.

As a statistics student I find it funny how everyone is taking traditional methods from my field that have been around for decades and rebranding it to be some sort of godlike method. It’s literally just optimization. All ML is overparamaterized regression. For any beginners who want to get into this space, do yourself a favor and stop wasting your time taking stupid MOOC courses which don’t give you any real fundamentals. Learn math, learn statistics, and learn mathematical programming. Then hop into a course.
@parttimelarry
@parttimelarry Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the suggestions. Many people were inspired to enter the field by Jeremy Howard's course though. Same with Andrew Ng's and Peter Norvig's MOOCs over a decade ago.
