I love rap, and a lot of that particular style, but he broke the stereotype. I still gotta say, fuck mumble rap. It’s super overrated and the skill and lyrical content is so fucking weak and cliche.

Quick story I got able to go backstage and meet with him and chat for a bit. He was easily the coolest he could have been to me. Dapped me up, asked me how I was doing and was just genuinely a nice person. Tech n9ne is easily the greatest underground artist in hip hop PERIOD(and top ten to me personally).

Being from KCMO, i remember 6th/7th grade and all the house parties and cars riding by would be playing “Let’s Get Fucked Up” or “Now It’s On” and DEFINITELY “Planet Rock”. I’ve been on the TechN9ne bandwagon for a LOOOOOOOOOONG TIME and rep every chance i get cause that’s not only home team, but legitimately a mercurial artist. This man's music got me through ALOT of tough times. To much to type lol. Deaths, addictions, you name it his music was there. I met him a day or 2 after his mom died. My sister died around the same time. He signed my canvas fear, RIP Sarah. I didn't get a chance to tell him how much all his music helped me. Just asked if he was gonna play fear. On the discussion of his Guiness World Record setting tour, and the # of shows he played, and then onto the fact that his shows are more than dudes head bobbin, mic-in-one-hand & dick-in-the-other type of shows, I can personally attest that he VERY HEAVILY underplayed this fact. I have seen Tech either 8 or 9 times....? Can’t exactly recall, but always comes to the same venue in my hometown Spokane, WA (listen to “Enter Everready/B.L.E.S.T. Intro for the Everready The Religion album, Tech talks about flipping his tour bus, I live in the city he mentions being on his way to next) He returms here often, and I can tell you, the effort that him and his team put into their live shows is like nothing you will ever see from another artist. I dont believe he gets into his full sinister-type outfits anymore like he used to, like the solid red prison jumpsuit, with the face paint and spiked hair, or a solid black priest looking outfit... but with some background stage props to maybe display a certain setting (like run-down buildings, for an apocolyptic-vibe) among various other things, his live shows are an absolute WORK OF ART. Not just a “concert” but an actual in-the-flesh piece of motion art. I highly advice seeing Tech the next time he is near you
