him flipping the bird at the maschine then chuckling about it was such a pure and relatable moment. i love my maschine, but i often have moments like these. i'd love to grab a drink with kenny, what a personality.

i saw him as part of Dallas's very first rave, billed as "RAVE MASSIVE" in 1991, outdoors, and it included the plus 8 records crew, richie hawtin, kenny larkin, john aquaviva, cybersonik, and others i cant recall.......? its cool how he uses ableton live along with a mixing board, thats what i want my ultimate set-up to be like

Although it was brief, it was a huge honor to meet him in person at DEMF on May 27 of 2001. He was very friendly and easy to talk with.

prob one of the best OG house producers tbh. and still puts out shit that sounds fresh... unlike aLOT of older dudes who got lost in the newer production standards

Loving the attitude of Kenny Larkin. It's very refreshing to hear someone talk why he bought a "Moog One" and a "Deckard's Dream". Many thumbs up at 8:06 ... hahahaha!!! :-)

A real talent and obviously a nice lad, too. I've always loved his music, Azimuth is an amazing album. I love his honesty about how he creates and where he gets his inspiration from, too. No pretence, just sharing the music. He's the polar opposite to some artists you could mention in Detroit.

Yup, the glory these days is to be able to afford the vintage synth sounds through new versions of the machines. Samplers and granular synthesis is something that back in the day was inly for the rich. Awesome studio!!

Not a musician, I was a "Pack Rat" sold everything that had a preset...went modular...never looked back. I like the fact that I have to patch and turn knobs to get the creative juices going. Great Video!.

He keeps saying he isn't a musician, but as someone who had piano lessons from 4-18 I can confidently say you don't have to be trained to be a 'real musician.'

Ha im exactly the same, record often without midi to catch that magic..and yes moving moving your kit around..I do it every few days..make such a difference..in short, don't get caught in one work method.. dunno about the big telly tho haha

His excitement about the CS-80 made my day, really hope he gets the first Behringer 808 and 909 from the production line so he doesn't have to pinch his fingers those boutiques any longer. Edit: his excitement and honesty is true gold, very humble and the "it is what it is" mentality what a breath of fresh air between all the other tech talks.

I totally agree with ALL of this. I have zero formula when I create music... I love the old equipment, but, I can neither afford a lot of it and I don’t want to have to make repairs on it. Not yet at least.

Wow what a studio. That 12U floor rack for effects is great. Shame they didn't show that side where the Matrix brute is. I wish Kenny would release more full length LPs with all that new gear
