Got mine from Richard at TTS Performance as well. After listening to George discuss the ramp problem on Tech Talk #37 I ended up ordering from overseas. 150HP/154TQ hasn’t broke it yet.

Great video. Never thought of the compensator as a wear item. I feel pretty good that I got 50,000 miles out of my compensator. Changing it this weekend.

Excellent video and great information. I just attempted to install a Man O War on my 15 RG twin cam because the factory compensator was starting to make noise. When I got the Man O War installed the noise went from the infrequent clunking to a constant growling. Apparently my crank shaft end run being out of the Dark Horse’s tolerance by 0.001 was too much for the Man O War compensator. So, I’m going back to the stock HD compensator and after watching your video I feel better about that!

Mr. & Mrs. Bryce, thank you for sharing your years of wisdom and knowledge. I've been learning too much great information from your channel. I just purchased a Star 30/30 cam and the Star compensator. Can't wait to hear and feel the 30/30.

Bought 2 ramps for 2 bikes 114 stage 2, 120hp 130 torque. I’ve seen someone break stock ramp few days after I installed mine. Very happy I changed mine.

Mr Bryce, Love this explanation of why not to change the primary drive ratio. The other thought in my mind would be changing the tranny gear ratio. I'm going from a stock ratio setup on a 21 cvo ultra limited to a Baker DD7 knowing that my final tranny gear ratio will still be 1:1 only in 7th bringing my torque in at the lower end without messing with the primary. Your thoughts.

When one of the ramps on the sliding cam "jumps" one of the sprocket ramps, is that when you get the clunk? Would it be a direct cause of weak spring plates not applying sufficient pressure against the sliding cam? Unlike the clunks most people report, I only get it when I shut down the engine on my 2000 Springer (113 ci).

I'm glad someone finally brought this up.. I've been saying for a few years that the bang bang of the motor firing with a solid gear is hell on the drivetrain. The only time I've ever gone to a solid "PULLEY" is on a belt drive because the belt will absorb a lot of the BANG BANG of the motor... thanks..

What’s your opinion of the man of war dark horse compensator, I purchased that billet sprocket piece and am replacing the man of war with my original Harley compensator with this new billet piece. For two years the man of war rattled and made embarrassing noises…

George, How does a compensator eliminator kit hold up on a stock 96 Harley touring bike?
@mopar340dave2 жыл бұрын
The solid gear will hold up great, the drivetrain will take a beating.

what about open primary designs they don't use a compensator dosent seem to cause any damage and then some people have have 90k+ miles on a solid sprocket ? just thinking out loud
